Hi all, first post - just finished off my first few Saurus warriors of my host and I though I'd post them up for comments:

The unit as it stands: The other 4 Saurus for the unit are about 50% done

Champion - I realise the angle of the shot isn't the best... but hey-ho:

    Standard:

Standard close-up - I'm happy with the tongue, but still very out of practice with the gems for the eye (Plus it still needs the gloss varnish adding when I pick some up)

    Comments welcome & appreciated.

Very nice work! The color scheme is very distinctive, and the blue feathers are an excellent compliment.
    Kinda reminds me of:

I gotta say, thats some fine work.

I have also planned of giving my Saurus a light brownish look on their skin. Nice to see how great it worked out for you. I just hope I can do half as good for myself.

Well, the way I've done it is fairly simple as I was going for a way to paint them fairly quickly (For me) while looking decent..
Start with a white base (I undercoat white for speed on these & touch up) then 2 layers of gryphonne sepia wash & your done....

I've got a pic of the test scheme skink I did as well (Just not finished the base) - I did a skink & saurus in each of the schemes I was trying.. some worked.. some definately didnt (One in particular looked like Barny...)

Wow very nice! Well done and great colour scheme. I really like them, and also look forward to seeing more. The skink looks cool, he almost reminds me of a tyranid.

I haven't seen the Burning Shore before, cool cover art!

Nice work, they look really good. Can I steal the scheme for my Cold Ones? ;) How did you do the scales? Just mechrite red and then a gryphonne sepia wash? And the skin is just white with 2 washes of gryph sep?

Hey, when did this book come out? Is it any good? I read the one where Thanquol goes to Lustria and didn't like the Lizardmen parts - very dull I felt - the Lizardmen seemed like mindless robots.

I like your colors a lot - can you brighten your next batch of photos - they seem very dark. Thanks :)

the paint recipe is fairly simple - Tried to keep it that way so ~I could get them painted fairly quickly:

    Undercoat white.

    Flesh:
    2 coats gryphonne sepia wash

    Scales:
    Mechrite red base
1 or 2 coats of Devlan Mud

    Spines/Claws & saurus weapons:
    Charadon Granite base
    Badad black wash

    Teeth:
Thin coat of badab black to outline the teeth against the gryphonne sepia

    Sheields:
    Scorched brown base
    Devlan mud wash
High light with scorched bron : scorched brown/ivory : Sorched bron:ivory:ivory

    Gold:
    Scorched brown base
    Shining gold coat
    shining gold:Mithril silver highlight
Occasionally use gryphonne sepia to tone down the silver.

Funnily enough I use the same scheme on my Tyrannids
