In this circumstance I think metal was the saving grace. I was able to bend the metal back to shape whereas I think a plastic model would of been irreparably damaged/warped

That's a lot of skinks mate!

I have successfully finished my Slann and I'm immensely pleased with him. Pictures have been taken, just need to remind my mate to send them to me in time!

Success! I present for your edification: Mage-Lord Chuqa-xi the Ebullient!

Things of note that I'm pleased with: The Dew Drop on one of the leaves. The fact that there's nothing below him, and thus he is floating. The little lizards and frogs and the black red and yellow corn snakes. The Jade jewelry. The freehand stuff was a challenge. Mostly though, I'm pleased with his face and how bloody grumpy he looks!

    Thanks for looking :)

Love the slann. Very cool look to it. The palequin is very nice as well. I like how you got the look of it floating. Great work.

nice work on the skinks Arli, that's an absolute crapload to get through in one month. Congrats! Nice work on the Slann too Moniker, the purple band around his face make him look like a supervillain of sorts. Love the work on the tree too.

Managed to get those Daemons done, will post pics tonight.

Good shading on the slann's mask; you can still see all the depth. That freehand looks del-i-cate! I like the gold etching on the black palanquin. That must've been pretty fiddly work, as well.

76 skinks in month :jawdrop: nice one. And they've all got nice bases!

I'll post what I got done when I get home.

    Great stuff Moniker!

Good work Arli. I wouldn't know what to do with that many Skinks.

    Alright, here be the pics.

I can't take credit for the conversion work on the Carnifex, I bought it off someone else and it was already converted and magnetised. All I did was spray it with a white undercoat and repaint it.

The red didn't photograph well. It's dark red with mechrite red streaks and then a blood red highlight on the streaks, but in some images it just looks like blood red on black when in reality it transitions more nicely. I really want to put a blazing orange highlight just on the edges of it to really bring out the red (which I've done on the Zoanthrope)... but to do that across my entire army is gonna take ages and I'm too lazy :p

Very nice work on the Tyrinids. I like the way the blue contrasts with the white.

Thanks for the compliments. In some ways the more I paint these Tyranids the less I like the scheme. When I painted my first couple of units (10 Gargoyles and a Trygon) I really loved the blue/bone/red, as time has gone on I wish I'd gone with something more interesting looking like maybe an "Aliens" style dark green.

Yeah, my Lizardmen haven't been getting much love lately :p I keep coming up with other things I want to try in other armies, and want to finish off my Tyranid and Orc armies. I've got a Stegadon, a few Cold One Riders, a dozen Skinks and a Salamander staring at me with puppy dog eyes from my desk waiting to be painted.

Again, I'm freaking amazed at how much painting you guys got through in a month. Nice work.

    Here's my sad, sorry performance:

You'd be less amazed if you noticed how streamlined those Hormagaunts are painted. The skin is just a layer of Devlan Mud over a white undercoat to save time, and I only bothered painting the teeth of the first 8 because I was getting bored :D

my first attempt at a 4 stage layer effect on the flames - i'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
    Enjoy!

Wow, all of you are awesome at painting. I'm definitely more of a tabletop quality guy, haha.

I love that Tyranid scheme, AllSeeingSkink.

Cool fire/fading on the horns, sevensevensare49. Turned out great for your first attempt at fire.

Sure. Although I do have a target for May as well. I don't know if we really need a points value target, on the Ogre Stronghold there's always a monthly painting challenge where at the beginning of the month you state what you're going to paint and then try to stick to it.

Here's my current plan for the Lizards by the way:

    April:
    30 Saurus (done)

    May:
    30 Skinks
    1 Engine of the Gods
    2 Salamanders

    June:
    30 Saurus
    1 Slann
    Scar-Vet on Cold One

    July 15:
    24 Temple Guard
