Hi. I would like to present my Lizardmen Army and do a little blog about it.. I have chosen a little bit of an unorthodox paint colorscheme for my army.. Hope you enjoy.. Heres a little bit of a story regarding them. "Kai'Tzatl, "a forgotten Slann", a devoted follower of the god Xokha, The spirit of stone, the giver of strength and the Arbiter of Duty. Kai'Tzatl was banished long ago by the Slanns of the known world for being Fanatic in their way of waging war.. The Slann decided to withdraw to a very distant part of the jungle where he found the Spawning pools of Loq'Tzatl. For many years the Slann used his powers to gather and train the Warriors of the Loq'Tzatl into fierce regiments of Saurus Warriors, Dangerous Cold one riders and Devoted Templeguards to protect the Slann and guard the temples of the god Xokha. The Warriors of Loq'Tzatl are known for their yellow skin and their green scales which are not usual in the world of Lustria. It is said that in ancient times the pools were touched by the god Xokha. Xokha's pressence and the gods magical powers was absorbed by the pools and thereby changed the genes of the spawnings. This is believed to be the reason of the yellow skin compared to the rest of Lustria which is inhabited by the usual blue skinned Lizardmen. The Slann who was banished so long ago started to make his pressence known by attacking the Slann who banished him long ago and thereby claiming his rightfull place as a respected Slann of Lustria. The Slann became known as Kai'Tzatl. "Kai" meaning "Forgotten" and Tzatl was taken from from the sacred pools of Loq'Tzatl. Be aware whart parts of the Jungle you venture into.. If you find yourself surrounded by yellowskinned Lizardmen you have already ventured too far.!!"
Re: Kai'Tzatl - The forgotten Slann - Painting Blog I promise to get a close up of the Saurus too.. You can see the colors here tho.. So far my main focus has been on the bases getting them ready. All has been made using Green stuff and Turf.
Re: Kai'Tzatl - The forgotten Slann - Painting Blog WOW! That looks incredible!!! Exlamation marks! Isn't it hard to fit the saurus on after the base is already done though?
Re: Kai'Tzatl - The forgotten Slann - Painting Blog They are made in a way to fit all the saurus there.. if u notice all the upper left corners / lower right corners are free for the feet to stand.. (except af few like the Champion who are going to be converted a bit to be standing with one foot on the stone.. as if he was walking over it.. Thomas
Re: Kai'Tzatl - The forgotten Slann - Painting Blog Amazing paint Scheme, it's one of the most original ones I have seen in years. So many extra points for doing awesome basing as well.
Re: Kai'Tzatl - The forgotten Slann - Painting Blog I've heard of building on a solid foundation before, but man, those are amazing. I love the coloring on the saurus crests (or whatever those are). Great work. I look forward to seeing more of your work. Also, Welcome to the Forum. Do you have any work in progress shots of the bases? I would love to see that step by step.
Re: Kai'Tzatl - The forgotten Slann - Painting Blog I have a few WIP ones.. unfortunately not any before the bases were painted with the first layer.. First layer 2nd layer.. Self made flowers has been added. Starting to work on the Movement tray.. And done..
Re: Kai'Tzatl - The forgotten Slann - Painting Blog Those saurus look freaking awesome! Love the markings on their crests! The movement trays are excellent as well. Keep up the good work
Re: Kai'Tzatl - The forgotten Slann - Painting Blog Beautiful stuff, that yellow is striking!!! Wonderful bases. That must take some crazy time to do!!!
Re: Kai'Tzatl - The forgotten Slann - Painting Blog Beautiful, creative, inspiring. As someone who's currently trying to rush through 26 temple guard in one go, I admire how much detail you're giving to each model. How much time does it take you to paint 1 saurus? Do you do them in batches, or 1 at a time? Nice work on planning out the bases. It looks good, very natural. I cannot wait to see what else you produce.
Re: Kai'Tzatl - The forgotten Slann - Painting Blog Great work. If you are up to it, it would be great to see a sculpting from the base up. We have lots of great sculpting WIPs on the site, but I do not know if there are any that cover sculpting of base details like that. Again, great work.
Re: Kai'Tzatl - The forgotten Slann - Painting Blog uff.. too long Take them in batches of 4.. Currently working on 3 RnF models + the Musician.. I think i can easily count in 1-2 hours pr model but i like it.. i enjoy it Regarding the bases i can do it when i do my TG bases along with my Slann base.. Ill take som pictures at that tiem.. gotta complete my Saurus unit first.. it takes enuf time as it is right now Thx for the comments bout my work.. nice to see its likes
Re: Kai'Tzatl - The forgotten Slann - Painting Blog Great work, really really clean paint lines! You obviously have a steady hand. And I'm a known fan of yellow, so points for that to you, too! But the bases... they are just amazing! As a person who has just gotten into basing his models, I really admire your work. Can't wait to see that unit champion going over the rocks! Hope you can keep it up!
Re: Kai'Tzatl - The forgotten Slann - Painting Blog Did you use green stuff or some other way to make those bases?
Re: Kai'Tzatl - The forgotten Slann - Painting Blog All if is made by Green stuff.. The only thing not greenstuff is the Tuffts.. The tiles, walls, flowers, broken pillars etc.. all are sculpted in Green Stuff.. Oh yeah.. The "grass" is made by glueing sand on.. Coat black and dry brush.. A new update is on its way.. hopefully tomorrow but been having a painter block the past weeks..
Re: Kai'Tzatl - The forgotten Slann - Painting Blog Those colors are awesome! I love the job you did with the bases too! Makes me ALMOST feel like getting around to painting my stuff one day i'll have time...
Re: Kai'Tzatl - The forgotten Slann - Painting Blog A small update I havent been painting much during the last month.. mostly due to health issues.. But i managed to paint a few more saurus.. giving it a better idea on the finished result.. (still missing small details like eyes and prob the teeth needs a small highlight aswell.. I have also started working a bit on the Slann base.. but im having problems in how to build it up.. If anyone of u have any idea feel free to write them.. i want to try and hide the flying stand without causing the base to be covered in ruins..
Re: Kai'Tzatl - The forgotten Slann - Painting Blog Everything looks awesome! For your slann, what lore or theme are you going with? Might give us an idea of what you have to work with!
Re: Kai'Tzatl - The forgotten Slann - Painting Blog Mostly i will defo be running Life.. The theme isnt really the biggest issue when looking at the base.. Needs to be something like the normal bases for my saurus'es.. Just has to be something not too overfilled with ruins but still in a way so i can "hide" the flying stand just a bit.. btw. thx for the compliments.
Re: Kai'Tzatl - The forgotten Slann - Painting Blog Vines to fit the Life theme. Just depends on how much GS work you want to do. Could make some flowers growing on the vine stalks. Maybe a fly-trap type plant or something?
