Does anyone have any tips or guides how to paint nice looking snake patterns?

I'm thinking the simplest way is basecoat, fat stripes in a pattern for the "border" colour then a thinner line within that for the "inner" colour.

That's about right, just remember to not make them straight, snake stripes are wiggly!

For a coral snake (red yellow and black) use black as the base, jakero orange -> golden yellow -> iyanden yellow, khorne red -> Mephistopton red -> blazing red it should give you a wicked looking snake :)

I was thinking more of a diamond crosshatch python style! Mind you, it's only because I have a GIANT snake that it's important. For the smaller snakes just some simple colours and stripes are enough for my painting standard!
