AoS 1000pts Skink Army Theme (No Saurus Allowed)

    Here is my 1000 point army list that i plan on building, painting and playing. I will be documenting all the steps i make in a separate thread. So join me on this adventure to combine my massive collection of unbuilt/unpainted models with my New Years Resolution.

    It will start nice and small at 1000pts:

    Skink Prophet (80 pts)

    Skink Starpriest (80 pts)

    20 Skinks armed with meteoric javelins (120 pts)

    10 Skinks armed with boltspitters (60 pts)

    10 Skinks armed with boltspitters (60 pts)

    3 Kroxigors (160 pts)

    1 Stegadon (240 pts)

    2 Razadons (80 pts)

    2 Salamanders (80 pts)

    3 Skink Handlers (40 pts)

    Total: 1000 pts

    Let me know your thoughts and any improvements!

    Not seen the prophet in a list before, interesting! What kind of game are you playing in? For casual fun or narrative, it seems okay but serious tournament goers will chew it up

    If I had the models I would drop the salamanders and maybe the prophet and add another razardon and more skinks

    Competitively the Prophet is no option anymore, like the Chief or Jungle Swarms.

    I think I would also go for one group of Skinks as big as possible to make them worth it.

    Do you mean "Skink priest"?
    rerollable saves for Steg or Kroxigors could be useful, but even "only" 80 pts matter at 1000.

    Magic_Karl, to be honest its just a list of models i like and trying to build. It will be played casually until i paint up all the other models. In your opinion, what would make this slightly more competitive? well, besides the power of saurus...

    Crowsfoot, the main reason i was think salamanders was the D6 damage for possible high wound models. but in saying that, the Instinctive defence of the razordons is persuasive. would beefing a skink unit to 40 be a better addition then the salamanders?

    Aginor, i agree! i just wanted a model to convert or build for a skink leader.... would a priest be more viable?

    Killer Angel, first of all nice name! second i agree. the prophet may be a bad idea. its hard to fit all of the models i want in within the 1000pts.

    A Skink Priest certainly has his place in our army. I actually include him in most lists because those rerolls for run, charge and save rolls he may grant really come in handy.

    A 40 man skink unit is optimal and will cause your enemy real problems, remember playing skinks is about out smarting your opponent, play the objectives, force him into a charge and wary fighter out etc etc.

    And get a paint blog started so we can see your army progress from drab plastic to vibrant prowess.

    Those 80 pts of priest could be turned into a couple of razordons. A group of 4 razordons with those handlers hurts.

    Regarding my name... well it comes from the novel, and actually it's decisely appropriate for Seraphon... ;)
