Hi guys, I was wondering what people think of my list to take against Slaanesh. I'll put a list of what I've got in general in my collection at the bottom so people can make a recommendation. Realm: Ulgu Leader: Slann Starmaster (260) - general: trait - great rememberer - incandescent retrices - meteoric convocation Skink starpriest (80) (battalion): - spell: stellar tempest skink starpriest (80): - spell: stellar tempest Saurus Astrolith bearer (160) Oldblood on Carnosaur (240): Doppelganger cloak Battleline: skinks w boltspitters and shields x 30 (210) (battalion) skinks w javelins and shields x 10 (70) (battalion) skinks w javelins and shields x 10 (70) Artillery: Salamanders x 3 (120) Behemoth: Bastiladon w solar engine (280) Other: Ripperdactyls (140) (Battalion) Skink handlers (40) Battalion Shadowstrike starhost (180) Total: 1930 - not sure what to do with the final points. The hope is to use the skinks to advance before first turn to create a screen that he cant get his models past without wasting a turn on, summon lots of extra skinks or saurus if necessary as Slaanesh like killing high wound models. Use my starpriests, solar engine and oldblood gauntlet to target his daemons as well, and use my sallies as a 2nd or 3rd turn teleport to flame one of his heroes or monsters. When i see a nice target, use the rippers alpha strike to take out one of his big units or one of his less armoured units. Does anyone know about this strike first thing slaanesh have? I see people talking about it but I don't know what exactly it does or how it works. Extra models I have are: 1 x salamander 1 x troglodon 1 x stegadon with bow 15 x knights 1 x scar vet on cold one 20 x saurus with spears 5 x chameleon skinks 20 x skinks w javelins and shields 20 x skinks w boltspitters and shields
From my experiance you need heavy shooting or heavy magic like kroak. In combat you wont beat them unless you go like 2carnos vs one keeper-----> one gets debuff on 2+ other can attack, or dopplerganger. Summon must be tones of skinks to let enemy lose fighting potential of keepers. Without hevy magic or shooting it will be very hard fight. Remember that every unit with hp greater than one generates summoning points. I would play: kroak, razodons/salamanders, 9/12 terrodons, bastilodon and tons of skinks
Thanks dude I'll take the advice on the shooting for sure. I'll try and put in those chameleon skinks then. They seem to have great damage against demons (albeit situational) and could pop up at annoying times to harass their heroes. I'm also looking at getting as many skinks prepared as possible, with boltspitters. Can teleport them onto objectives and just hold up his big heroes in general. What do you reckon?
no army is going to cut through 180 wounds of skinks in 5 turns. just put them on the board and keep runnin them forward while maintaining control of the objectives. not a fun way to win (unless you're like me and play Tyranids without the big baddies for fun) but it will get the job done.... it will also piss off your opponent to no end. I fully admit I borrowed skinks from the store I used to play at and fielded a 2k army with 1400 points of skinks (that's 200 for those wondering) starting on the board and then summoned more... just to say I did.
I did something similar to get a win vs beasts of chaos. At one point i had to save CCP because i had 220 skinks in play and none left in my cases. Pissed him off to no end and was pretty funny to me. Interesting fact, 20 skinks won a fight vs a cygor in melee.
I've never faced BoC so I don't know what that means, but it sounds impressive that skinks killed anything lol
Sounds like the ultimate fun cheese hahaha :L This is the list I'm going with in the end tomorrow Realm: Ulgu Leader: Slann Starmaster (260) - general: trait - great rememberer - incandescent retrices - meteoric convocation Skink starpriest (80) (battalion): - spell: stellar tempest skink starpriest (80): - spell: stellar tempest Saurus Astrolith bearer (160) Oldblood on Carnosaur (240): Doppelganger cloak Battleline: skinks w boltspitters and shields x 30 (210) (battalion) skinks w boltspitters and shields x 10 (70) skinks w javelins and shields x 10 (70) Artillery: Salamanders x 3 (120) Behemoth: Bastiladon w solar engine (280) Other: Ripperdactyls (140) (Battalion) Chameleon Skinks (110) (Battalion) Battalion Shadowstrike starhost (180) I'll let you know how I get on!
I won! 17-9 in the end. Battle for the pass was the mission, which I think helped as he couldn't get his first turn charges off. I teleported my bastiladon into firing range and brought the chameleons out of hiding, and in the first turn wiped out a unit of 10 seekers with just those two.... After, i managed to hold his units up with my skinks, teleport summoned units around the board and control the objectives. I used the alpha strike on his own objective, scoring me an extra 4 points in the final round when I had killed his unit guarding it. All in all pretty pleasing, although I think he could have played a bit more tactically and I would have had more difficulty. Teleporting a carnosaur near and objective but not on it is a great distraction
