Hi guys, First post here after lurking on all the forum. Former fantasy battle tournament player, i've came back to the game a month ago and i plan to chose and paint what i'll play in my upcoming first tournament. I'm hesitating between two lists and i'd love to have your insight, considering i don't know if it's hard or friendly level tournament ( so i'll take the most competitive list) Here we are , List 1 Leaders Slann Starmarster : Gryph feather , Great rememberer Engine of the gods Astrolith bearer Units 10 skinks 10 skinks 10 skinks 3 razordons Thunderquake Starhost Engine of the gods : Incandescent rectrice Bastiladon : prism Bastiladon : prism 3 skinks handlers 3 razordon List 2 Leaders Slann Starmarster : Gryph feather , Great rememberer Units 10 skinks Shadowstrike Starhost Skinks Starpriest ( or Skink priest ? ) prism of amyntok 10 skinks 10 skinks 6 Ryperdactyles Thunderquake Starhost Engine of the gods : Incandescent rectrice Bastiladon : prism Bastiladon : prism 3 skinks handlers 2 razordon I have lots of other models, just need to schedules things to paint
Welcome aboard List 1, you have 2 EotG but you only need 1 for the Thunderquake, have you 2 for a reason? List 2, running 2 batallions is risky at 2k better at 2.5k, also skinks won't do anything in units of 10, in your shadowstrike better to have a 40 skink unit so they all get buffed. As a brand new player I would go with Thunderquake as it is easier to play than Shadowstrike, Shadowstrike is deadly but Thunderquake is just hard to kill.
Hey Crowsfoot, thanks for the answer. I'll give you some more informations . List 1 : i picked one more to improve a bit my summoning power, maybe it's to much and i got other option ( carno ? ) List 2 : The idea was to have TQ plus a bit more impact to fastkill key target so the shadowstrike. Skinks are just here for BattleLine and unlocking battalion, havent tryed yet big skinks unit, only screener , obj taker ... Considering my experience , i'm not " brand new ". I'm a former tournament player ( warhammer battle ) and playing 1 / 2 Aos games each week so i can get used to SS without a problem
I'd go list 2 then Allegiance: Seraphon Leaders Slann Starmaster (260) - General - Trait: Great Rememberer Engine of the Gods (220) Skink Starpriest (80) Battleline 10 x Skinks (60) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers 10 x Skinks (60) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers 10 x Skinks (60) - Boltspitters & Star Bucklers Units 3 x Skink Handlers (40) 1 x Salamanders (40) 6 x Ripperdactyl Riders (280) Behemoths Bastiladon (280) Bastiladon (280) Battalions Shadowstrike Starhost (180) Thunderquake Starhost (120) Endless Spells Balewind Vortex (40) Total: 2000 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 2 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 91
The balewind addition is a good idea ( i wanted to get one since i came back to the game ) Thx for this. Now let's train with it !
One drop is an idea too: Allegiance: Seraphon Leaders Saurus Astrolith Bearer (160) Saurus Oldblood (120) - Suntooth Maul - Artefact: Prism of Amyntok Saurus Scar-Veteran on Cold One(100) - Artefact: Blade of Realities Skink Starpriest (80) Slann Starmaster (260) - General - Trait: Great Rememberer Engine of the Gods (220) - Artefact: Incandescent Rectrices Battleline 40 x Saurus Warriors (360) - Spears 10 x Saurus Warriors (100) - Clubs 10 x Saurus Knights (180) - Lances 5 x Saurus Knights (90) - Lances 5 x Saurus Knights (90) - Lances Battalions Dracothion's Tail (80) Firelance Starhost (150) Total: 1990 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 2 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 131
I don't have a lot of experience with Saurus lists, but 1 thing I can say is that there are probably a bunch of artifacts from the realms that might be more effective than the prism of amyntok on the Sunblood. Maybe you've already considered them and this one fits your plan better, I was just wondering since it is less common these days to see 2 artifacts from the Seraphon ones when there are a plenty to choose from the realms, let alone 3 of them!
the Ghyrstrike (or something like that) realm artifact is amazing for Sunbloods. +1 to hit and to wound means his exploding sixes are now exploding 5's.
Like I said I don't know much about Saurus list, but I guess the Sunblood is part of the synergy going on? If so, I'd maybe look for something that can make him more durable, like a Gryph-Feather Charm from Ghur (-1 to hit him, +1 move) or maybe a Ignax's Scales (4+ ignore MW), depending on what you're more affraid of. If his role is more of a get in and beat down people, I'd probably look into more offensive artifact, at which point your Prism of Amyntok might be just fine.
That sounds like just the kind of offensive artifact I would take if that's what I wanted my Sunblood to do!
It's really pretty awesome, it makes him pack a sneaky punch. With 5 attacks hitting on 2s, exploding on 5s, and wounding on 2s, exploding into d3 damage on 5s... I've definitely taken some people by surprise However, that MW protection sounds pretty awesome too, it's really his one defensive weakness.
I thought the 1 drop fangs of sotek is the go to saurus list (even though I have no idea how to build it or play it)
