Hello all, I did some searching and found a thread from 2016 in regards to this, but that's awhile back at this point. Wanted to double check! If you have a Slann and cast a spell through a Vassal, for unbinding purposes do you measure the 30 inches from the Vassal or the Slann?
Unbinding is always measured directly from the model casting and the model unbinding. This means you would measure to the Slann for the unbind and not the Troglodon.
Hurrah! Thanks for chiming in so quickly. I haven't even bought a Slann yet and just got into an argument with the person I regularly play about this before we even got to the table. >_<
Indeed, what @LizardWizard said. IIRC, it was furtherly clarified in a FAQ... or maybe it was explicitly spelled in the rules I should check both the FAQ and the 2nd edition rules, if it can help to have a written rule to show to your friend.
It is explicitly stated in the rules, I recently posted about this on another thread. the vassal ability states to measure the cast from the Skink hero/trog, and the rules for unbinding you measure from the unbinder to the *Caster*. this is one of the things that makes vassel worth, and makes it a shame that kroak doesn't have it lol
