AoS Archie not interested is it time to sell up?

    Ok guys so this is the story, Archie came to me on Sunday and said he does not want to game/paint etc yes I'm devastated but rather than just paint and stuff the models in a drawer or sell the lot I decided to try and find a gaming group locally to me.

    I rang round every shop I could think off, no joy and with one shop left I thought no chance will they play AOS, so I put the phone down and resigned myself to selling up.

    So today I thought just ring what harm will it do, so I rang and the young lady that answered said "oh yeah we have just started playing AOS come down tonight for a game!"

    RESULT!

    So I need a 1k list for tonight nothing cheesy just something that shows off my models and easy to deploy etc, now the problem is most of my core troops are multibased for KOW (not for long) but I have 50 skinks unpainted but assembled and I have 20 guard on sq bases.

    Help guys, remember I have every model except Razardons!

    God i'm well excited!

    It looks good for 1000 pts. Having your stuff multibase or the wrong bases is tough. Long term, I might switch out the guard for warriors in pretty much any combination, (5 guard, 20 warriors?) just to get more models on the table, but your list looks good for now. Also, remember that you can't have two artifacts unless you have a formation.

    Noticed that when I put the list through the app, yeah this list will hopefully just give me a feel for playing against someone that isn't 10!

    I don't care if I lose just glad I can actually play :)

    I can easily remove them from the multibases, that is my next project, thing I'm more pissed at is I bought him his own airbrush setup and a 2k skaven army for him to paint!

    I suppose I can paint them once I finish my Seraphon, Aelf stuff

    Really glad you found a group! Too bad about Archie, but should be fun to get a few games in with some new people. I might go like this, gives you a chance to show off, and not too killy/cheesy

    Yeah, paint them up and use them as a lender army or an alternate. Also, give him a couple years, he may come back around to it.

    I hear that. I don't have anywhere near enough time to play these days. It's a great day when I manage to get my models on the table.

    I returned after 7 years pause 18-25. I m positive that a 10 year old will return while he matures up a bit. I never wanted to quit but I couldn't help myself not feeling pressured by my slow painting pace Oh well, growing up helps you manage yourself better and enjoy some things as you should

    I'm sure he will get interested again, first game done and I go slaughtered, I used the first list as they are painted and got hammered by Skaven particularly Stormfiends those things are tough to kill, Chamo skinks are amazing need 10 asap!

    Hope my green stuff turns up tomorrow so I can get my chameleons converted... Sounds like they're going to be a solid choice.

    They were amazing took out a full unit of clanrats and took out 1 stormfiend without a loss, another 5 placed in cover to shoot will do wonders.

    I think Rippers and Chamo skinks are the way to go against those nasty rats, I actually thought about using the shadow strike starhost as this 2 units of chamo skinks, priest and Terradons and a unit of rippers not in the formation, I could then hide the chamos, rippers and terradons.

    place the rippers and terradons in the same phase and try to nuke the nasty rats, but I would have to drop 10 skinks and the chief, worth it?

    Edit: were playing 1500 next week. :)

    It's never too soon for you!

    I really enjoyed it last night and they are starting a ladder campaign in the next few weeks, also great thing was when I took my models out of the case they were all gob smacked at how good they looked, yes that felt good :)

    At 1500 I would almost certainly try and get a Carnosaur and Bastiladon in the list somewhere, a Bastiladon with a Starpriest and Priest backing it up is super tough verging on invincible, couple with with your Chamo's nuking out anything that try and snipe your priests and I think it's looking okay.

    The 3 packs of standard skinks seems shooty enough and would be good fodder to surround your delicate units with... I do feel that beyond that you could be in for some hurt once those guys die.

    I had the Bastiladon last night and it was poor but I might have played it wrong it didn't last long against those nasty rats with gattling guns!

    Hmmm so many choices

    If you have the Starpriest giving it Summon Starlight (-1 on hit rolls against it), and the potential for Celestial Rites (reroll saves) or Mystic Shield (+1 to save rolls) and you have a pretty tanky little dude... Mortal wounds still an issue though, not sure if the rats guns do those, but pretty sure I heard skaven dish out mortal wounds pretty well?

    Yeah they have quite a few units that can give out Mortal wounds, those Stormfiends are brutal and I know they have to die fast next week before they get in range hence 10 Chamo's and rippers.
