So having recently taken the plunge to try out Warhammer/AOS after only using 40k, I thought i'd post my progress to actually give me motivation and get feedback etc.

Being a long time lover of all things dinosaur, I've always thought of using toy dinos as lizardmen minis.

So my first ever lizardmen mini is this stegadon (parasauralophus) conversion. It's still a WIP, not sure about it's collar and still thinking about the colour scheme. All feedback, posative and negative, will be greatly appreciated, be as critical as you like before I waste more time and decide to make more of these.

    Anyway, hope you like 20150807_122055.jpg 20150807_122418.jpg 20150807_122426.jpg 20150807_122440.jpg 20150807_122452.jpg 20150807_122434.jpg

I was thinking of doing that Chicken Lips but thought a herd of these guys might look quite cool, just have an image of a whole load of marching giants, but will see.

    Thanks for the welcome n810!

So i just got back from holiday and in my jet lagness- if that's a word- I made another dino rider. This time a slann I picked up on ebay for pennies. Anyway, all thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated, please say if it looks stupid before I make more, again it's still WIP .

    Have a look:

At first I was thinking no hoping to fit this onto a 50mm base but the guy is just too big. I think Mazdamundi needs something much more grander so will be looking to to add alot to this, seems too plain to me at the moment.

Doesn't seem too plain to me. It looks to be a great conversion and worthy of Mazdamundi!

Will you basecoat the whole model, or will you leave the Stegosaurus as is?

Yeah will basecoat and repaint the dino, was considering leaving but I think the style of paint would make it still look like a toy rather than a model, if you know what I mean.

The Parasaurolophus one is pretty neat. I would probably do some edits to the model itself though, specifically around the head. Warhammer creatures tend to have a very brutish look, even if they are herbivores, while this looks quite docile. Perhaps you could add something to make it look more intimidating, horns, scutes, etc.

I agree Loxodon, think I might add to the crest, spikes most likely, not sure whether to make it look as part of the dinos natural armour or something added by the lizzie riders

So which ones are herbivores? I haven't seen any in the Lizardmen book. I mean just look at the Bastiladon's teeth, that is no herbivore, and the Stegadon will eat pretty much anything.

I agree, giving it a paint job will make it look so much better. I can't wait to see what it looks like when completed!

Good call. That would really add some flare to the model.

The Bastilodon and Stegodons are still meant to be herbivores, but yeah, they do have sharp teeth. However, if you look at the rhinos that the ogres ride, you quickly realize that all the Warhammer animals have teeth like that. Also, many herbivores in real life occasionally eat meat.

    Thanks guys,

is4evrdead- plenty more to come, i've got a few more think i'm going to do, just done another one, just need to finish them off now.

N810- I think that's the way to go, more detail needed in areas on all of them.

Crowsfoot- Thank you, the dinos are from papo and schleich, they've got some great dino figures, well anatomically made and just the right size if not slightly big, they have some good theropod and sauropod dinos but they all seem a bit big for 28mm scale.

So rather than try and finish off these I went and made the skeleton for another parasauralophus stegadon and also picked up a flyer, not sure what to use him as, thinking of putting a rider ontop, maybe count-as a scar vet even though it's on a flyer. Anyway, any comments, good and bad most welcome, see what you think:

Very nice. I feel the big guy could benefit from some sort of ankle bracelet type of decoration. I think that would really sell the Lizardmen theme. Awesome work, it's going to look amazing painted up.
