Does anyone have a good way to build and paint saurus Knights?

Last time I build the entire model and tried to paint that, which was a pain due to its pose. There's just soo much stuff in the way of other parts of the model.

Now this time I'm trying to paint the rider and mount seperatly, and although the mount is now definitly easier to paint it doesn't really help for the rider. Plus putting together the rider without mounting him is a pain as well.

    Anyone have any better ways?

Keep them apart and stick the rider on some plasticine or similar, I paint my together

issue is that especially the rider is a pain to put together, without his seat stuff keeps shifting so it ends up not glueing nicely.

Build the saddle and let it dry, make sure you get a good fit on the coldone, file it etc, then finish building the rider and keep it separate.

Once painted superglue the saddle and rider onto the coldone

I actually used poster putty to attach my riders, but superglue works fine as well.
Also keep in mind some riders (depending on pose and so on) don't fit some mounts all that well, so try them all out before you glue them.

Issue is I can't get the saddle to fit nicely without sticking it on the mount.. it's quite annoying.

Are your mounts going together flush without a gap?

yup, it's just that the saddles themselfs are too fiddly and without something to lean on (like the mount) I can't get them to actually settle in the correct place. So trying to do them seperatly like that gives a mediocre end result.

Mine tend to have to be popped on by applying a tad bit of pressure

Oh it isn't severe. You can only notice from certain angles and I used dark colors on the saddle so the areas are too dark to see the pieces that don't fit 100%.

I think I used a cork from a wine bottle... and a edding marker... also tried super glueing free hand... lost a little bit of skin on two fingers but it works if you use very small amount of glue, that dries fast. (Always faster on the point where fingers meet plastic than where plastic meets plastic though)

Considering it's only the first layer of skin and personal experience. You will be ok.

Oh I'm fine ... and the piece of skin is underneath the saddle so no harm to the mini either...;)
Next batch of riders will see the gel texture glue anyway...:p
