Mounted Sauri can't use two hand weapons, but they don't have a restriction against "paired weapons" do they? I can see how logically they wouldn't but there are mounted special characters with paired weapons.
Re: Can a Saurus character wield Fencer's Blades on a Cold O In the book the rule is no additional hand weapon on a CO. I think your fine, certainly can't think of anything that stops you using fencers on a CO
Re: Can a Saurus character wield Fencer's Blades on a Cold O Yep. (paired weapons do not count as extra hand weapon)
Re: Can a Saurus character wield Fencer's Blades on a Cold O I just did this last night with an Oldblood on a Carnosaur and the same issue came up (Fencer's Blades/Glittering Scales/Dragonbane Gem/Crown of Command). My opponent told me that it was illegal, which caught me offguard as I'd checked the entirety of the magic weapons section before completing my list. I didn't find anything disallowing mounted models from taking paired weapons in the book or online. Add'l hand weapons are another story. For what it's worth, there are instances of mounted models coming with paired weapons as a stock feature as well. Not sure how the two are any different in the practical sense, buuuut *shrug* rules are rules.. o.0
Re: Can a Saurus character wield Fencer's Blades on a Cold O I think it is mentioned in the 8th edition FAQ somewhere...
Re: Can a Saurus character wield Fencer's Blades on a Cold O I believe that only thing the FAQ states is that it "requires two hands", but so does a GW and we can run those...
Re: Can a Saurus character wield Fencer's Blades on a Cold O Who has ever used a GW CO combo before sounds terrible
Re: Can a Saurus character wield Fencer's Blades on a Cold O I... I can't tell if you are serious or not. I hope you are joking. I really do. EDIT: Send the message prematurely, so here goes the answer to the topic. Two-handed weapons can be used while mounted. A lot of cavalry in the game have great weapons, or access to it, so that is perfectly legal. You cannot use an additional hand weapon with a magic weapon, or while mounted. Additional Hand Weapon doesn't apply to Fencer Blades, as it isn't an additional hand weapon - it's a paired weapon. Paired Weapons give the Extra Attack Special Rule, on top of the other rules. Extra Attack increases the wearers attack value by 1, no limitations (aside from things like supporting attacks, of course). Fencer Blades is perfectly legal, RAW, while mounted. And really, "Fencer Blades" in particular makes perfect sense, because if you are wielding magical weapons which makes you as perfect as possible with those 2 weapons (WS10), then of course it would still be possible to use them from horseback.
Re: Can a Saurus character wield Fencer's Blades on a Cold O I was joking, my scarvet CO GW AoD is so well hated in my play group, they started calling him Captain Awesome. We need an emoticon meaning irony/sarcasm I think.
Re: Can a Saurus character wield Fencer's Blades on a Cold O Yeah, neither of those things are easy to convey through text alone My similarly build scar vet is equally hated, though he did take out a unit of 20 slayers by himself, including a slayer character, so he has quite a reputation.
Re: Can a Saurus character wield Fencer's Blades on a Cold O Besides, it's not like Lizardmen use reigns anyway.
Re: Can a Saurus character wield Fencer's Blades on a Cold O You must have the nicest gaming group in the world if they give hated things such nice names. If i would list the names we call certain hated things i would be banhammered here instantly.
Re: Can a Saurus character wield Fencer's Blades on a Cold O Funny, my group does the same, though they also give names to characters who generally suck. My local dwarf player has this "named" thane build he almost always brings, who just ALWAYS dies in challenges, either on the first or second turn. He has literally never won a challenge, ever, and have given his opponent Underdog challenge THRICE. Temple guard captain, White Lion Champion and a Witch Elf Captain. Not the weakest captains, sure, but still pretty pathetic considering the difference in pointcosts. He was called... things. I wrote it, but immediately realised it would probably earn me a ban if I actually posted it. So yeah, it's pretty bad.
