Hmmmmm...... I think I might buy that when I paint Alarielle for my wife's army. One of those looks exactly how i would like the giant beetle to look like....

The only problems seems to be that they are very thin. So when you use a brush you will have to apply 6-8 coats.
With an airbrush it seems to be a tad easier. I watched some review videos and I think there is great potential there, but I am not sure I would try it without an airbrush.

...good thing is that I will get one this year most likely. :)

Lol, yeah, I just got one for Christmas. And even though it may take several applications, it don't think that it'll take all that long (especially with an airbrush) and the results will be undeniable. I'm excited to try it out anyway. This is something that I don't think I'd ever have tried otherwise.

And I love your idea of applying it to a Giant Beetle!

I finally managed to get a few pics of the Ogre Tyrant I "finished" for my new Ogre Kingdoms army.

Their theme will be a clan of high mountain Ogres who's constant exposure to the frozen, harsh, unforgiving climate has caused their skin to permanently turn a dark shade of blue from the never ending regeneration that they must undergo just to survive in that realm. As a result, they are an incredible tough clan (among Ogre standards!) that if provoked to action, carry out their wrath with a cold, unyielding determination.

He looks great! One tough looking dude, reminds me of a frosty, more burly version of Frank Frazetta's death dealer in the way you can't see his eyes under that awesome helmet.

Here's a few more little guys! (Snotlings) 60 wounds, 60 attacks right there. Basically the O&G equivalent to Jungle Swarms.

They even brought along a toy. (Snotling Pump Wagon)

Man that army is SO bad in AoS but they have some really nice models IMO.

Well actually they got a lot better with the GHB2017 but.... yeah, the truth is: it looks like they are being phased out in favor of Ironjawz and Bonesplitterz.

Eventually all 8th edition miniatures will be phased out in favor of new AoS models. This is how they plan on getting rid of 8th and 9th edition players. 9th has a lot more freedom writing their own rules for these new units though... GW said that you could still use the old models with AoS, but it was fairly obvious that they were all eventually going to be replaced with bigger, badder, models, that you'll have to play if you want to stand a chance at winning.

As for me, I'm just going to keep playing 8th and take those new shiny models (the decent ones) and write rules for them with my gaming group. I've already done that with the Gore Gruntaz! They fit nicely with an O&G force and fill a gap that they were lacking: Monstrous Cavalry!

I doubt GW think they will "get rid" of 8th players. They know people won't stop playing 8th or 9th or any other system as long as they have fun with it, and there are so many models still on the market that everyone will be able to play their armies. GW cannot take them away and doesn't need to.
In a way you might say they already got rid of the 8th and 9th players because either they buy new models (fine with GW, it makes money) or play with old stuff which means no revenue (although of course the players did pay for the models at some point) but GW doesn't invest money in the old 8th branch of the rules so they don't invest anything either.
Financially there is no significant difference for them between someone who doesn't play at all (like I did before AoS came along) and someone who plays 8th with the old models.

I do the same thing with D&D. So much 3.5E stuff available, I could probably play with those rules for decades. I don't need anything new and I won't switch editions and that's perfectly OK for me and for the company making the rules. New players will most likely play the new stuff anyway because it is new and shiny and available and only some dinosaurs (like me) still play that old stuff. :D

So I guess what I am trying to say is: Everyone has their preferred thing, yours is the old one. Don't mind GW, keep doing your thing, there's nothing wrong with it. :)

I finished another unit of 20 Skeletons! These are actually going to a friend over on EEFL. We are going to do a big trade and these will be part of what's going to him.
