Hello everyone! I only play AOS but not since they change the rules for summoning. since you have to use a "summoning pool" now from the original pointspool I have a question; when I roll for the EOTG and I get the summon, is it cancelled if I already put the max points in the deployment or does it counts as a "free summon"?
In my opinion it should count as free summon but who am I to judge :D

    GL out on the tables!

If you use rules as written then the summoning just doesn't happen. So the roll results that would normally lead to summoning are just fails and nothing happens.

I heard there are people who houserule that though, so you pick the next lower result for example.
The Reinforcement Points rule makes the EotG pretty meh. A Slann can improve your chances though, so a build with EotG should probably contain one.

Depends how you're building, but I don't think it's junk. Just relatively expensive at the moment. I feel the summoning rules need a revisit for GHB2.

    1000 pts army.

    EotG: behemoth, hero (general)
    Stegadon: behemoth
use 240 pts for battlelines / whatever
keep 260 points away, use the EotG to summon your third behemoth.

10 wound model needing roll 14-17 in order to summon it in seems silly... You have no other wizards so once that's dead you're dead.

1000 points is way too low to play EotG....

I wouldn't say junk, just harder to use now, you need to plan out what you will do with it. But it is nice getting passed the behemoth/Leader/artillery limits.

well junk is allways a harsh word, but as far as playing competetive, I will allways play the model that is the most usage/cost efficient. instead of eotg il go either with another slann or carno depending on opponent. this might be a silly question but why would you use a stegadon instead of a carno (never play with skinks anyway)

Well, you could always go balls to the wall with the EOTG and build around its extra turn ability- below is a quick two minute llist at 2000 points:

    EOTG 240
    EOTG 240
    Slann 260
    Skink Starseer 160
    Bastiladon 300
    Bastiladon 300
    Salamander 60
Skink Prodders 40 (what on earth are these actually called again?) Skink Handlers! [Thanks @Ritual ]
    3x 10 skinks 240

    Thunderquake Starhost 120

    1960

Just pump all your extra rolls, re-rolls and roll increases onto your Engines to fish for that elusive triple 6, shout "za warudo" at the top of your lungs, then proceed to table them with unlimited shooting phases with your Bastis. Easy money. You can always summon more handlers to plop onto an objective if needs be.

Tbh I kinda want to try this list out at some point now.

EDIT: Dropped the skink chief and corrected Slann points

Disaster, you're right, I forgot that Slann were 260. Don't make lists using points from memory, noted!

I mean, it's close enough... You can easily still hit it by dropping the Salamanders/Handlers and grabbing another unit of Skinks.

Fair point, forgot that was there.

Guess the Chief makes most sense to drop then...

A single gryph hound to cover placement shenanigans rounds out the 2000.

The summoning can be good in some limited cases. In order to place models where your summoners can't reach or to save a Slann from having to cast a spell. However you aren't likely to get the summon result without a Slann but at the same time the Slann allows you to avoid the result through dice manipulation. The eotg has the advantage of being another source of mortal wounds.
