Gloss over Matte...is this a no-no?

So I finally finished matting my whole army (weather slowed me down) & I notice that my mini's look rather dull now & dont feel like they are protected enough from gaming wear & tear. my question is should I do a light coat of the glossy clear coat & then hit it again with the matte stuff? has anyone ever tried gloss over matte before..?

I read that its the other way around but like many I've invested time & money & dont want to ruin them. I value your guys input so please lmk what I should do.

It should work just fine. I sometimes use GW's 'Ardcoat over a Satin Varnish spray and it works for me.
