I don't want to sound overly confident about this one but what shall I chose for the theme of the next competition when I win ?
I was trying to hide where I live from the other forumites, you cracked the code.... My workday ends at 11 PM. I tend to be awake for a few hours after I get out of work. The deadline is set so I can have all the contest entries waiting for me when I get home and so I can put everything together before I go to bed. I could set the deadline at noon but then I would still release the entries at the exact same time. If I switched to day shift, my deadline would suddenly become 6 PM. If I switched to third shift the deadline would be 6 AM. I figure since half our writers are not in the United States, the time of day is not a huge issue but I do want to give last minute writers as much time as I can. 22 hours to go and we have 12 entries so far. Sorry, @Y'ttar Scaletail , you are often almost the 13th entry but you never hit it on the nose. 12 is a number that makes me smile but even more impressively, we have a wide demographic of authors. We have some returning authors I haven't seen a while that we get to welcome back. We have three first time contest entrants, one of them has 0 posts, so his/her very first contribution to Lustria-Online is a well-written short story.
Love this! A hearty welcome to ye, silent one! Unless you're a sock puppet in which case we will feed you to Y'ttar.
Silly dead scale-thing, the 13th is always left for the Horned Rat, bless-blessed be his na...erm...I hear-heard this from a foul (but handsome) Skaven whom I sacrificed to the Big Hatted Old One. I am innocent lizard-thing, honest. Defo not as polished as I'd like (a lot of my proofing was done on the back on best part of a bottle of homemade pear wine...which turned out to be horrifyingly potent) but we'll see. And welcome new-meat, i'll have to find another sock puppet to eat...
Welcome to the contest and forum....I WILL CRUSH YOU....by which I mean my story will destroy yours in a popular voting format! ....I'm just joking I have no faith in my story winning there are some high calibre writers on here.
Winning isn't as important as joining. We get some worldclass critiques on here that are worth far more than winning.
Let the battle of words rage on, swing to and fro! A melee of a thousand thousand letters, pages flying and authors crying. None shall go unscathed, formatting under scrutiny, spelling in question, and your very paragraphs picked apart before your helpless eyes! CRY HAVOC AND LET LOOSE THE DOGS OF WORDS! But, indeed, good luck to everyone, and I hope to read some extraordinary pieces.
My dear Y'ttar, you're confusing horns for eggshell. Very different headgear. There can't possibly be horned ones or any other rats on this forum, we would obviously know about them!
I don't want to solicit votes for my story but when you read the phrase "and they all woke up and it was all a dream" you'll know what to do
