    Alright! Very long due update!

My AoP! Was really happy with it until I arrived and saw the other entries :joyful:. I won second out of 5 though, so for my first Armies on Parade I think it is not bad at all!! (you can see the other tables here ;)). I named the table (it needed a name) K´utz´am´s Last Stand, as the White Dwarf had asked the store manager to send some pics to maybe publish them in the magazine :):).
This is my price :p. It´s sitting near my winning table :D:D

    IMG_20161015_193659.jpg

It was a great day! I went at 11am when they opened to get my table there, and after placing everything I was told if I wanted to paint one of the new gorechosen board game model for the store and I accepted (Pictures below ;)). So I spent the whole day painting there. And then about 1 hour before the store closed the voting ended and the point count began. I got 69 points! (the voting system consisted on giving 3 votes to the one you liked most, 2 to the second and 1 to the third). Really cool event!

    So the model ;):

I realized too late I went too dark with the skin shadows, but in my defense this was the first time I tried to do OSL with light from above :).
    Hope you like it!!

Now the progress on my army!

Finished painting all the saurus (as you saw on the previous post :p) and the giant standard. I thought you´d like some close ups :D.

    IMG_20161025_193249.jpg

Really like the striking green colour, it adds lots of contrast to the stone and brown-oreange of the saurus. I´t the same method I used on the base :D. I actually noticed the other day that the army looks so good on these bases because they make a lot of contrast to the browns; I noticed they looked boring previous to the foliage sticking :D:D.
Anyways I really tried to make the standard as good as I could (trying keep in the limits of tabletop, of course). I added lots of weathering and painted the gems as well as I could :D.
Hope you guys like it :)

    IMG_20161025_193127.jpg

As for the objective markers: Bone (5), mixture of silver and bronze (6), stone with metal gems (7) and metal with red and blue gems (8). But I still liked the others I had done earlier better so in the end decided on the stone colours as they made some very nice contrast with the skin tones.

Hope you like this! And sorry for the delay, too much homework and pressure to finish the AoP :joyful:. Once I finish the gorechosen model I´ll provably paint up the models from a board game I got last Christmas, but I´ll take it slow, no pressure ;).

Wow @Jorgik I'm so jealous of your crazy talent! Your board where everything is set up with the pyramids, the ruins, the jungle plants and the spawning pool just looks damn good! I'm really impressed with your custom made standard bearer with the carnosaur head aswell. Really cool and original idea and wonderfully painted! Great work all over :)

Stunning work! Each individual piece and the work as a whole! Each of your scenery pieces are beautiful (as usual), and your minis look great! Glad the saurus are all finished, their bases look great and really complete them! Love the carnosaur banner too, the green definitely has a great contrast with the saurus carriers and the rest of the stone banners. Almost looks like a portal. The way you painted those last two saurus is fantastic, love the tiny orange dots on their head crests.

    Phenomenal work! :artist::spiderman::vulcan:

That winning board looks pretty impressive too... lots of vertical height!

Edit: great extra details on the objective counters too!

Congrats on second place. That is truly a stunning display that you've created. The individual terrain pieces work so well together (maybe one day I'll try to get my scatter brain in order and create a matching set, but I doubt it will ever turn out this good).

    A+

    :)

:p I'd love to do an army on parade thing what does it entail exactly - having a whole painted army and scenery?

    Thanks!
Basically, it is displaying an army on a board. How you go at it is up to you. There´s people who make the scenery glued to the base, others modular (like me). Usually for the board it is recommended to glue the scenery, as this will allow you to create better-looking scenery, but there´s no rule against doing it otherwise. Regarding the army, it can also be glued (with no bases) or modular, though it is preferable to have them separate on bases, after all it´s an "armies on parade" contest, not a huge and awesome diorama contest ;).
In this contest there´s no one thing that´s looked at the most, people vote for the one they like most, which could be the painting or the scenery or the convination of both.
Anyways, as my experience from this year thought me, build something tall or big to attract the viewer´s attention to the board, which will make him/her check out for detail, painting quality and otherwise. The problem of not attracting attention instantly is that the people who are watching will think the board´s boring and will not look out for details on your board. :p
For example, my board´s attention attraction point was the spawning pool (I ignored this previous to the contest day, though), this was due to its strong contrast and vivid colour, and to the fact that it was the only glossy component of my board. But the winning board´s attention attracting element was its huge height, which complemented with its enormous amount of details. But upon closer inspection the paintjob was pretty mainstream. And then the boards that didn´t have any attention-grabbing elements were only looked at after seeing the others in detail, which makes the viewer think they were poor (and they weren´t)
This is not to say that my board was better, but to show you that to have more chances of winning you need some element that will make the viewer only focus on your entry. :joyful::joyful:

Sounds very interesting - do you need to register for these events is it a games workshop run thing? - this will be a long term goal I think - I'm so far behind everyone on the hobby but now I'm working I have more funds to put to use for scenery etc - I'm trying to secure a decent cabinate to display my models in aswell away from dust and in divided sections so I can work on seperating them into manageable units. My initial thinking is I will try and get my Slann for all seasons concept into a board and that way I can have 4 seasons board or something like that, that might draw some attention as a conceptual peiece.

Yeah it´s community judged. Everyone who enters the shop has the right to vote.
And you don´t really need to register, though I think you should communicate them you want to bring a board so they make enough space ;)
