    Hi my scaly comrades!

I start this blog with the full intention of sharing and keeping it updated with my works as my army grows. It's going to be exclusive for Lizardmen/Seraphon, with space ship and robots as background. Since i have no photo stand or a place more suitable to take photos.

Normally i use for the saurus skin different shades of blue, and cold ones with the classic green skin, but for the Skinks on the mounts I want to do something different, use a wide variety of colors to make them distinct and make the whole piece different even if there are two together. I'll try to go for different colors on the dinos too, but that's common practice.

So, let's check out what i have in store:

    Seraphon Start Collecting! box:

Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur: Both mounted, rider fully painted, Carnosaur fully coated.
Saurus Warriors: Beating the dust in the box.
Saurus knights: Cold Ones primed and ready to be painted, Knights still in sprue
Scar-Veteran on Cold One: Conversion with Temple Guard and Knights bits.
Skink Starpriest: Conversión from the Troglodon kit, fully painted, looking for a base to stand proud.

Bastiladon: Fully painted, based but no texture or color. Tried to go for a star crystal, but instead got a winds of magic kinda lookalike. At least looks like magic to me. I made the Skink of different colors since i want my army to catch the eye by the seer amount of colors there are in the big guns.

Temple Guard: 10/15 fully painted, 1 waiting for his shield, 3 waiting for layer and gold, 1 primed. 5 shields primed.

Saurus warriors (16 box): 8 fully painted, 1 converted for gaming purpose, 7 in sprue.

Mixed color Skinks are a bold move, but they have a great contrast to the (deliberately I assume) low-contrast Bastiladon.
    Looks good! :)

boys i need feedback, i'm currently working on the carnosaur, but, i don't know how to proceed. I was actually planning to go for the black and orange pattern from the box, but the red looked so good i got carried away, and now i don't know if i should keep up with the red, or add the orange stripes. So, should i keep the mayor parts as Black, red pattern, and orange stripes? Or just go for the red and black as i am now? Any suggestions? I will try to add more light since it's going to be a centre piece of the army, and i want him to stand out so expect mayor highlights.

I was also ready to go for the Grimlok pattern, but i'm really bad working with white and the stuff needed to go from a softer white to a much omore nuclear one and the flesh pattern is beyond my skill actually.

Just go with the Red and Black and then once finished if you think it needs it add the Orange.

Always easier to add more than take it away. ;)

Definitely go black and red! As @Crowsfoot said adding is easier than taking away...
If you want orange... how about a rim for the red... only on one side of the pattern... like all backward edges ...

Fellow Lizardmen/Seraphon enthusiast, i have made progress, and since I asked for advice here's some pictures about my work.

I went for the red tones at first as you guys told me to, making highlights, drybrushing, shading and stuff... But i wanted some Orange in my carno (Troll Slayer and Fire dragon), so I chased my vision. And after a couple of layers, I don't know if i made good with my choice, i need a shade for the orange so it blends with the scales (Any ideas? I'm thinking of Nuln). Since as they're now, the scales are nonexistent and I'll not tolerate a nonscaly carnosaur in my collection. I'm aware of the mistakes, i watered the paint and some went awry but, I hope i can fix it before finishing it.

After the two first pictures where taken i kept painting and made the belly, i'm using Karak stone (three thin coats for a nice base), Screaming Skull (two thin coats), and a shade of Reikland and here I stopped. Next will be some Pallid Wych flesh with a highlight of Ceramite. When i'm finished with this i will take some pictures of it, but for now, here's some progress.

Hope you enjoy the blog, if i keep painting like this i'll be doing Cold Ones by the end of the week.

I think Agrax would be a good shade for the orange.

Seraphim Sepia is a warmer shade than Agrax and Nuln.

Apply 2 coats if you want really dark shading.

Seraphim you say? Mmm... I don't have it, but maybe it's worth a try, first i will do a test on a piece around here to see if the finish is what i'm looking for, but I still have some other parts to do, so the orange can wait for now. Also, i made some progress in the belly, so far is looking good, once the Ceramite highlights are done i'll upload some pics.

Update! I have finished the unders, claws, and teeth, it's getting closer to it's final form!

Next in the list is the leather, the gold and head details. Then i'll have to do some final touches with the orange, i still need to do the test with aggrax, but that's for tomorrow.

    Good.
The orange builds a nice contrast that makes the scales stand out really well.

Great big and menacing, as i worked on the orange i thought to myself that i had rather keep it more bright than darken it with shades. So, with just a minor work of highlight with the orange to actually finish it, I bring to you the 95% finished piece. Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur, kept in balance with the gold pot, hope you like it as much as i do ^^

Carnosaur looks magnificent. The orange was a good choice. I'm looking forward to seeing more!
