    This thread is to be devoted to accumulating ideas for a community generated army book and general suggestions toward the creation of a NinthHammer or Ninth Age Warhammer.

    Also this thread can be used to accumulate ideas for fixing the worst fails in the 8.0 BRB. These could then be passed along to the SwedComp effort.

    To keep this all better organized it might be a good thing to give specific topics their own threads, which could be linked to from this thread. Like the Trog and PF (probably already existing threads on those).

    What is there in the BRB that needs to go away or change? I think that a first effort would work best to just cross out some of the goofy stuff without replacing it. These things come to mind but I expect there are more:

    Fozberts Folding Fortress: just eliminate it.
    Cannons: dangerous but not sniper rifles or guided missiles or smart munitions.
    AutoKilling Chariots with a Great Weapon: no, just no.
    The Overly Deadly Spell List:
    • Purple Sun?
    • Dwellers Below?
    • Mind Razor?
    • ________ ? what else?

    you could just add a 5+ save for all the instant death spells.
    not sure how to fix mind razor. Maybe have the effected unit loose their
    parry and ward saves as long as it's active ?

    I would be inclined to just redact all three and maybe allow the player to choose one of the remaining 5 high end spells.

    I would definitly twick cannons, so that they dont hit both rider and monster but instead randomize like normal shooting (its totaly ridicilous as is)...

    The overall theme should be combined arms. No death stars, no "I win" spells and no uber cannons. Magic and artillery should be support and not the only thing that grants you a victory. Thus I think there should be no dwellers bellow/purple sun as they are OR they should maybe to be restricted to only do 2D6 on units affected. Obviously casting value would need to be tweaked and so should the miscast table. By nerfing the uber spells I see no need to also risk losing your mage.

    Big kill-everything units shouldn't be allowed/should be given some sort of penalty.

    Personally I think BSB should only affect the unit the BSB is in and fear should grant -1 Ld and terror -2Ld. failing fear = WS1 failing terror = WS1 and ASL. Units with ASL to begin with are forced to reroll their successful To Hits.

    Just on the top of my head. Concernig to our own book I could likely come up with a million small things :p

    For fixing cannon; they only hit monster or rider(s) randomly determined.
    also after picking their point of aim, roll a scatter dice and a D3, this is the new point of aim,
    and roll artillery dice as normal.

    That was 7th edition wasn't it?

    I think the cannon issue could be fixed by implementing the following...
    • only the rider or the mount gets hit (randomized)
    • cannon does d3 wounds instead of d6 (same thing for bolt throwers and the center hole of a stone thrower)

    I don't think a nerf is needed for stone throwers, they are already much less accurate than cannons

    I'd maybe suggest D3+1. Keep your lone characters near units/in a unit and our monsters are still not auto-killed. :p

    True but they have the potential to hit many more models. I suggested it because I don't think it makes much sense that a cannon does d3 wounds while a stone thrower does d6.

    ... oh maybe for the pass a attribute test or die spells,
    expand them to a best of 2 attributes, so PS/PoS might be Int or St test,
    and dwellers could be St or To... something like that.
