Hi, i hope you can help me. How does this work? When a Slann with Obsidian Amulet(magic res. 2) joins a unit the unit also gets the magic resistance. So the unit gets a ward save agianst magic spells of 5+ And the Slann get a ward save against magic spells of 2+. What ward save do you use when a spell targets the unit that has t the Slann in it? do you use a 5+ or a 2+. thanx
For example, if you get hit by fiery convocation (S4 hits on all models in a unit) on a unit with 21 temple guards and a Slann, you roll like this: 21 dice, with one seperate coloured dice to represent the champion: 4+ to wound, 5+ armour save, 5+ ward save then you roll a single dice for the slain: 4+ to wound, 2+ ward save Thats how we play it anyways, correct me if Im wrong
Ondjage has correctly detailed how MR works for a unit with a slaan with MR2 although the TG get a 4+ AS against the spell in question since they also get to use their shields. About the only important thing to remember is that MR only works against direct damage and magic missile spells so it provides no protection against killer spells like dwellers, purple sun or any other type of magical attack. Still, MR on the slaan is very useful as it also helps protect against lists that spam the death sniping spells and saving TG from spell damage is always a good thing!
On the topic of MR; don't buy the crappy Unfathomable Presence. It's a D3 magic resistance, but you roll at the start of your opponents magic phase, and you only have the MR until the end of his magic phase. You don't get the MR during your magic phase! If you get caught in a comet blast, or a RIP or lingering effect damage spell, you've got no protection on your turn. It is the WORST discipline of all. -Matt
