Hello everyone. I've being visiting this forum since a long time ago and I think it is time to ask your opinion about my lizards. I'm not really a good painter but I'm looking forward to improve.
I think the colour scheme I decided to use is very bright and colorful. Also the unit leaders are different, just to add more colour to the army.
These are the first ones, they aren't finished yet but I only need to do the details like claws/teeth/eyes.

I really like how the gold colour came out. I'm planning to paint the eye with light blue.

    This are the "leader units":

I tried to make it look rugged and I'm happy with the result. At a far distance in the battlefield it should look great.
There's also another leaders I started to paint long ago without following the army scheme, and I think it fits because they are old units.

Sorry for the megapost, I have no more pics right now. So any comment, suggestion or critic are welcome. I want to improve my skills and make my lizards look great. Thanks!

Nice start... I really like the crest on your Skink! And I'm digging the battle damage on your Scar-Vet, way cool.

One thing I notice off the bat is your painting seems a little flat. I think this is because your shading isn't very pronounced and your highlights are a little thick (I used to do the same thing with mine). Are you using washes to shade your models? It looks like you have some places and haven't in others. If you have all over, you may be covering it up with too much mid-tone. Remember to leave the shadowy bits in the recesses. For the highlights, getting a nice thin line just takes practice and good brush care :smug:

Nice color scheme too, the bright green weirdly works with the purple skin even though in my head I wouldn't have thought to try that. :D

Thanks man! I usually don't shade with inks but I find it hard to highlight the lizardmen. I always mess it up and ends up with ugly bright spots so I focus on paint as well as I can the important units.

Also, because I started painting long time ago, when I was a kid, I had done abominations and they are all re-painted; maybe that's the reason they doesn't look very well.

I'm finishing a little conversion for the banner carrier, so I will upload the photos as soon as possible.

Another thing: I was thinking of painting the lizardmen with hand weapons with another scheme, because of the the spawnings (not sure if it's the word). Same purple skin but different scale colour. What do you think?

    Thanks for the feedback!

This are the first one of the regiment finished. I tried to paint yellow eyes but it is very hard, so I've though of painting differnt eyes for the saurus, like normal people. Any thoughts/suggestions?

    Hope you like them!

I think I could lighten up the banner carrier's shield, but I'm afraid of screwing it up...what do you guys think about it?

I like the green scales on the Saurus. they really stand out against the purple. The shields look fine to me. Not sure what you would change or add to them.

Painting Saurus eyes is a pain. Try adding a pupil with a small spot of black. That really seems to help mae the minis come to life.

Thanks for the advice. I also plan on paint the shields of different colours just to add more variety to the army. And I like the eyes without pupil, they seem more fierce to me :smug:

    Updating!

I'm finishing the old edition squad leaders:

Particularly, I love how this one is coming out:

    IMG-20140720-WA0011_zps7a42fee7.jpg

I hace some skins ready to be tweaked since was my brother who paint them and I want to make them look more like the colours I'm actually using.

By the way, I'm sorry but I won't be uploading stegadon or terradons, because they are already painted (by me and my father) a long time ago. Maybe when I finish painting all the stuff I have left I will take them to make them look better. I can post pics of them if you want.
