So, after watching some pics of the slann of Lord Tsunami and his concept of Throne of Vines, and because I needed a second slann (I play 2 slanns in my tourney 2500 points list), I thought, why not try to sculpt the throne of vines? And so I've tried.

Well, It's not finished yet, It needs more branches and leaves, but the idea is the one shown. (I hope you can see the pics).

Everything is made of green stuff, and the skeleton is made of wire and 2 small flying bases (with the stick in the middle). It still has more work to do, but you can get the idea.

    So, what you guys think?

Very nice looking so far. Looking forward to seeing some paint on it as well as a slann.

Re: My scratch slann (just palanquin by now)

So, i finished modeling it. I consider it finished apart from the sand and some details i have to put on the base (i want it to look like the throne just came from nowhere, like it just appeared from the ground breaking it). It's not painted yet, and it will take me some time to do it as i prefer sculpting/converting to painting, but i will do it eventually.

    The other side:

The slann sitting on his "Throne of vines":

    img2246q.jpg

In order to get the slann to "sit still" in the throne, i had to put some green stuff in his bottom and then press against the surface of the palanquin. The slann itself is not finished yet, as i want to take a mold and then, when it's on resin, try to sculpt the arms again, like they were in the motion of casting a spell (both arms high in the air and the head looking to the sky, like if he was praying), and i think it will be easier to sculpt the changes and cut the model when it's in resin than when it's in metal.

    img2247c.jpg

So, what do you think? CaC always welcome guys.

    I think its fantastic.
The only thing i am worried about that it is too good (and fragile with all the hanging vines) to play with.

Re: My scratch slann (just palanquin by now)

It's not that fragile, i can assure you, as i've been playing with (and transporting) it for a while now and it hasn't broken once, not even a little branch. But i have to make him a cage for itself.

    Thanks!

P.S.: By the way, i changed the name of the topic, as the model is "almost finished"

:jawdrop: phenomenal. Can't wait to see it painted up. I would echo what borkbork said, but if you're happy, then you're happy.

K, good to hear. would be a shame if the vines started breaking off after a few battles.
And as i can be a bit clumsy from time to time i am always worried about damage.
