Hey all. Long time reader , first time poster. So I need some advice. I have a 1000 point narrative campaign coming up and I am trying to figure out what to put together for it with the new GBH 2019. My available forces: 1 - slann starmaster 3 - start collecting boxes 48 - stinks 1 - skink priest Not sure what to do with the available units I have. Any help would be great and thanks all. Edit: No named characters are allowed
Before I design a list, are you able to sculpt stuff out of green stuff or do basic modification to models? If yes then you can have a huge amount of flexibility in lists.
I am not great at it. I have checked out the get the most out of the start collecting box. I have not tried it yet.
Alright, so my suggestion would be to build an army from the following, with some kit bashed support The slann 1x oldblood on carno 2x Saurus scar vets 1x astrolith banner 1x sunblood 1x oldblood (on foot) Any number of scar vets on coldones 40x skinks 10x knights (lances) 5x knights (lances) 5 knights (lances) 30x warriors (Spears) So maybe something like this? Allegiance: Seraphon Mortal Realm: Ulgu Leaders Slann Starmaster (260) - General - Trait: Great Rememberer - Artefact: Incandescent Rectrices Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur (240) - War Spear - Artefact: Sword of Judgement Battleline 10 x Saurus Knights (160) - Lances 5 x Saurus Knights (80) - Lances 5 x Saurus Knights (80) - Lances Battalions Firelance Starhost (150) Total: 970 / 1000 Extra Command Points: 1 Allies: 0 / 200 Wounds: 59
Why yes I do! So the first thing I need to emphasize: saurus knights may look like cavalry, but If you use them like cavalry you will be disappointed. Use them as slightly faster infantry and objective grabbers, but most importantly a screen for your carnosaur. The carnosaur in this list will be doing most of the killing here while having the knights soaking up hits. The slann can help by summoning more units, or if your feeling up for it, summoning another carnosaur . Remember to keep the slann a step behind the army so it is not jumped, and you should be seeing a decent amount f success with this (I actually used a similar list to relatively good success)
I am not sure how CCCP works. So how many Conjuration Points would I get per turn? If I am reading the new GHB right I should get 4 per turn right? 3 for the slann 1 for slann as general
Yep that’s exactly it. If you need some practice try a few smaller 800 point games with a slann, preferably playing against a friend who is also learning. Other than that the list is relatively easy to run. Hope it helps
1 for the Slaan as general and 3 per spell you exchange in return for CCP. So with three spells that’s 9 for a total of 10 per turn.
Yep. As they received a light nerf they are no longer taking with the main army so using them as summon chaff is very effective.
Anyone have a video showing this army in action? Trying to do as much research as possible prior to week 1 of the campaign
Sadly no, while I have used it a few times this is not a hyper competitive list so I doubt you will find much. However in some battle reports on the forum you could probably find something, likely with a keyword of “Firelance Starhost”
As skinks got a light nerf and you already have a bunch of them, I would say getting a box or two of saurus warriors. Then you focus on some support characters, such as a sunblood, skink Priest, and skink starpriest. An astrolith banner is also a good choice.
Yeah that would definitely work and is a good way to spend the last 30 points. Just remember to be careful with predatory spells, as I hav seen them cause havoc, but then end up on the summoners own troops.
