So, my friend that got me into AoS recommended replacing the clear plastic rods that come with these models, as he's experienced they are rather fragile. I'm not a big fan of the factory rods as the peg that meets the base on the shorter rods do not fit tightly in the base. Also, the ball ends do not snap in. I assume that the idea for that end is to apply adhesive and position the model as desired and let it dry, but I'm not a fan of the idea. Has anyone here experienced issues with these rods and if so, what would you recommend as a possible mod?

The GW flightstands are not bad when they only have to support small flyers like you find in Age of Sigmar. You can magnetize the models to the flightstands which will reduce the likelihood of them snapping.

@LizardWizard Do you remove the ball end of the rod and glue a magnet to it to achieve this?

For these models, the pegs fit into a plastic scenery piece; either way a little glue provides a firm fit. The ball joint is also fine as it provides plenty of contact with the model for a little glue and a solid link. I had no issues at all. Good luck.

In my experience with our terradons and rippers, they work just fine.
I've got far more problems with heavier models (kharadron bigger ships)

Yep. Just cut off the ballhead and put a small magnet on it, Then place one inside the cavity on the bottom of the Ripperdactyl. Depending on the individual model they can be friction fitted, but in my experience they begin to sloop over time.

I ended up taking this advice. Used a hobby saw to take the balls of the ends and super glued magnets into the ball hole and end of the stands.
