I really like that brown, reminds me a lot of female broad headed skinks colours broad-headedskink-mating001.jpg

Looks good, very bronzed look for the skink. Personally I would prefer to make my shields a different color than the skinks themselves, but that is just my personal preference.

    Also awesome base.

I was considering that, but I want the Skinks to look more basic than warriors, so will contrast the warriors more and then hero guys can have the most contrast.

I'm lucky in the respect, my man loft is only for painting and converting, no wife allowed.

I agree with @Warden, they can look basic but don't go to far, at the moment they look monotone which in it's self is ok but when you do the rest of your army they might look out of place, a splash of colour to tie them in will not only break up the brown but add to the skinks, don't get me wrong they are great and you have done a wonderful job so far.

If it was me I would just paint the crest on each skink, spot colour does a great job of focusing the eye.

Great work so far keep it up. ;)

I definitely hear what you're both saying - I might try and throw in a splash of colour on them. But they're are basic bitch skinks, so the warriors, knights, heroes, dinosaurs need to look progressively more contrasting.

I'm going to lighten up the most top scales and crest with a burnt orange to give them some more tone but not contrast I think. I might then paint something on the shields in another complementary colour and see where we're at.

Need to check the Seraphon book when I am in the store tomorrow, I recall seeing some constellation symbols the Seraphon use.

My biggest issue is that I have 20 skinks, 40 warriors, 15 knights, and then heroes and dinosaurs to paint - and need to get any army ready for the table in 2 weeks :)

Best thing you can do is sort what colour your doing the models then get a primer that matches, e.g blue warriors= Army painter crystal blue primer.
Prime, wash, drybrush= table ready then go back later and add detail.

I think the main issue is that I hold myself to too high standards when it comes to table ready-ness, I always want things to be perfect and finished!

I'll crack on though, I have list so I know what I need to get done, it'll be a busy weekend.

It is hard to just leave things I know but sometimes it feels really good, I did my warriors in around 12hrs, I didn't do bracelets, spikes etc but turning out 40 models in that time frame felt really refreshing, I will go back and add more to them soon.

Oddly enough the pursuit of perfection is often what holds a lot of people back myself included you don't wanna do something unless you can do it correctly or the best you can and sometimes as hard as it is to accept life doesn't always give you the time or resources you need to do the best you could do if u had both.

Probably, but with an airbrush and just enough time I should be able to get what I need done ready for the 29th and the first match, only 700 points worth so not going to be too bad :)

I hear that and I think we all want our armies to look the dog's ********, don't we?

I think I'm extremely lucky that I can paint to a tabletop standard quite quickly but taking it further does require a big investment in time spent on an actual unit the Aelfs I'm doing atm are taking me on average 40hrs for 20 so 2hrs each which is a lot for me, god knows how people spend 80hrs+ on one model, I know it shows and it is display quality but I'm no where near that level (thankfully)

Looks really nice. Painting and basing... the dark spine scales and the brighter ones really add something...

Nice work. I like what you're doing with your bases. I have never been able to anywhere beyond the basic "drybrush the sand."
