So I have the following models: 10 templeguard 5 chameleon skinks 36 saurus warriors 24 skinks 1 salamander 3 skink handlers Slann Saurus oldblood on carnie Bastiladon Skink starpriest Saurus oldblood I'm worried about that Stonehorn because man alive are they tough to kill. I was thinking that maybe 36 saurus warriors would be enough to take one down but then I'd need to take the starpriest and oldblood to get the most out of them and that's 560 points gone.
I was thinking, either: Saurus oldblood Slann 10 templeguard 34 saurus warriors 10 skinks or: Saurus oldblood Saurus oldblood on carnie 10 templeguard 36 saurus warriors What do you folks think? First list would allow plenty of magic that Ogors probably won't be able to counter, second list is more aggressive and that carnosaur will do some damage.
Hmm so this is tough, Ogors can be a real challenge so you need to be able to take a beating. I think for your characters I like list #2 but have you considered the Carnosaur + Starpriest. 2 reasons for the Starpriest: Unbind the Maw spell (I forget the name) but it can be ruinous! The Starpriest spell (again, names) with the -1 to hit can really limit the Ogors damage output. That puts you on 420pts. I'd avoid the Temple Guard in a game this size v Ogors in case of a Thundertusk, that's possibly playing too safe but it's what I'd do. So let's chuck a solid core of 30 Saurus in. That's 720pts, 280 left. Most of the battleplans are about objectives so that would be my next focus and skinks are a cheap way to get hold of them (and with wary fighter stay alive!). They are also cheap so 10 of those, thats 800pts - 200 left. From here you can do what you think best: 10 Saurus Guard 5 Chameleon Skinks + 1 Salamander -10 Saurus + 1 Bastiladon 1 Oldblood + 1 Salamander + 3 Handlers None of these are right or wrong but for my playstyle (play the objectives!) I like the chameleons so I'd go with: Oldblood on Carnosaur (with Quiksilver Potion) Star Priest 30 Saurus 10 Skinks 5 Chameleon Skinks 1 Salamander OR (if you fear not the Thundertusk) Oldblood on Carnosaur (with Quiksilver Potion) Star Priest 30 Saurus 10 Skinks 10 Saurus Guard The second list here is very similar to your second so I am assuming it fits your style (but manages to keep the "Order" alliance so you get the allegiance abilities!) Hope this helps!
Thanks for this brilliant advice. I fear not the Thundertusk as I know the player and he doesn't have one so may play the second list. Slightly confused though as how does the first list not manage to keep the "Order" alliance? All of them are Order units no?
My pleasure! Hope you have a good game So this list: Saurus oldblood Saurus oldblood on carnie 10 templeguard 36 saurus warriors There is one 'Battleline' unit (Saurus Warriors) and one 'Battleline Seraphon' unit (Saurus Guard). To use the Guard as battleline your alliance needs to be "Seraphon" not "Order", thereby stopping you from taking the Order perks but allowing you to use Seraphon battleline units. Hope this makes sense?
i would maybe suggest getting some terradons/ ripperdactyles since they are great hit and run units as well as splash damage troops which could turn the tide of battle especially their swoop ability can cause some damage getting rid of dem pesky wounds
They are on my wishlist, I want to buy some prepainted models as I'm really worried I won't make them look as good as I want them to look but I'm not having any luck finding anything reasonably priced on ebay.
