7th Ed. Skink box

how many blowpipes do u get in a skink box,
thx in advance

 

4 sprues that have 5 on each. 20 total blowpipes.

 

Which really bothers me. Dear GW, there is room on those sprues for 4 more measly blowpipes!

 

Just cut the end off of the Javelins and call them Blowpipes.

 

wow, really its 4 short, GW can never do anything right (just kidding, they put out a great product)

They're really hard to hollow out with a pin vice then. Yes, I am that dorky... but I think my blowpipes look cool!

 

I recieved my skinks recently, set them up, until the last four, and was horrified to find I can't field 24 skinks with blowpipes,

 

so if there are only 20 blowpipes, how many javelins are there in a box?? 20?

 

Actually there are enough shields and javalins to field a full 24 man unit. Go figure, the configuration we DON'T want!

 

i think it's a subtle hint from GW that we should use javelin skinks

 

if you look though there is 1 brave head in each sprue of bodies (its the 1 with the metal tip on its crest) so the idea is that you can make 20 normal skinks and some leaders for units hence not having enough blowpipes, the braves would have hand weapons for foghting duels and stuff i think.

But then im a noob so you can take what i just said with a pinch of salt if you want!!

 

And ironically, the blowpipe skinks are the skirmishers so won't have command. Its less javelins you can live with if you make command for a ranked unit.

 

do u get 20 blowpipes in the battalion than or just 12

 

Just 12 Skinks, and I think of those you only get 10 blowpipes.

 

Sounds about right. Essentially the battalion just comes with half the number of sprues as the skink box but they're exactly the same sprue.

 

i thnk thats abit annoying its the same with alot of sets that you dont get anough of 1 but get more than anough for he other

 

What do you guys use for command? You get a brave on each sprue but what about musicians and standards? In skirmish units its not a problem but im planning on a few units of normal skinks and need ideas for command.

 

The stegadon box has 2 banner arms in it,
I tend to use a horn, from the COR sprue normally and stick it on a blowpipe arm, again, the one from the steg works lovely, there's nothing stopping you from using a javelin arm and a bit of cocktail stick or brass rod to make a banner arm though,
