I recently found this video. It's pretty awesome. Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse is compared to the Disney Star Wars movies.

I noticed Into the Spiderverse hasn't got the attention it deserves. I think as the video alludes to, part of the problem is that nearly everyone likes it and even among the people who don't like, I don't think anyone hates it.

It might have been the best movie of 2018. It was the first non-Disney, non-Pixar movie to win an Oscar for best animated picture in a long time. More impressively it was made by Sony. Sony has made a lot of mediocre and garbage movies but somehow they did everything right here. It's like a flower growing out of a pile of manure.

I think this means there is hope for almost any company, at least when they are making something newish. I don't think Star Wars episode 9 is salvageable. As the capstone of a trilogy it must be built on the foundation of the first two movies and it has a weak foundation. A hard reboot or a soft reboot can mean that episode 10 will be a good movie, maybe even a great movie.

It's just amazing to think of how the Disney Star Wars would be different if Rey was a struggling but idealist kid with no knowledge of the Force. Rey reluctantly pulls Luke out of retirement and Rey's idealism awakens the idealist that Luke used to be, so they both help each other! That would be at least on par with the prequel trilogies. Now imagine they actually pulled at the plot threats of Finn dealing with his stormtrooper past rather than hand waving it away, so he can be a blustering comic relief. Throw in a fifteen minute montage of the First Order taking over so it doesn't see to come from no where and you have a timeless classic on par with the original series. Alas no.

Anyway, nerd news shows that it looks like Sony is likely to pull Spiderman out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe of Disney. That seems crazy because Spiderman Far From Home has critical acclaim, fan acclaim, it made a lot of money, and it set up a brilliant cliff hanger to tee up the next Spiderman movie. This is not the time to change horses in midstream.

The last two Spiderman movies were really good. The two before that were subpar. Not quite dumpster fires, but subpar. Sony Spiderman movies are almost like Targaryan children. The gods flip a coin and comic book fans hold their breath.

Well, we disagree about the Star Wars part here, but I agree quite a fair bit with Spiderman. I did like him in the last movies I saw (I haven't seen Endgame or Spiderman: Homecoming though). He has a lot of potential.

I also still liked the new Starwars movies. I like the jaded and broken Luke, I like Rey, I like Kylo, and I like Snoke. The weak part of ep 7 imo was the casino planet.

    Into the Spiderverse was awesome.

The evil rooster with cheap sexual innuendos in his Youtube name made me cry.
