Hey All, here are the first pics of the first painted models from my army. Any comments are welcome! I loved the yellow shield with the blue javalin skink, but this meant I had to create yellow creatures (its their dead brothers and sisters skin the shield are made of after all, I recon.) See the stegadon WIP to see the scheme i came up with. This led me to the following problem: I based two skinks, and please let me know what you like better. i'm afraid the brownish base won't work to well with my yellow scheme for the creatures. Also I might get some of those temple stony bases from ebay for my whole army. Here is the javalin skink with shield: And a skirmisher: here is a unit (wip): Close up of the Brave: And here is the stegadon WIP: I still need to do the gold, the tail rope necklace thingie and the claws. close ups: I'm now working on the howdah and a trial of the blue scheme on a saurus CJ
Thank you! i'm having some trouble with the howdah. I like the gold ones from the book, but can't make mine too golden because of the yellow The saurus is coming along nice. The same scheme as the skinks and a yellow shield works well on him. I hope to have pictures of him later this week. Now what you do guys think, sand or stone bases?
Wow those skinks look really cool! Great work! I really like how the extremeties are darker than the body. I think the brown base looks better, but the stone does give them a very cold feel.
Really nice painting job! I like the idea of the yellow creatures to justify the shields To answer your question... I like the brown bases better, and with some extra grass or other brown-covering stuff it can work with the Stegadon as well. But if you going with the special bases, aren't the temple bases a bit too yellow-ish as well? I think the jungle bases for instance will suit both the skinks and the stegadon. Or maybe a combination of those two might work as well, like a temple in the jungle or something like that...
How did you get the skinks from breen/blue to the dark? Care to elaborate the texhnique? Thanks I really like the skinks you did!
This. They look great. I've been wanting to do some skinks in this theme (it's from the army book, right?), but I didn't know how to tackle the snout fading.
I Like the grey base but it may be a problem when the unit is in a movement tray but this in itself might be good you could make it appear they are on large flag stones with out having to go to the expence of bying them. Stu
as for choosing base type, i would recommend scorched brown for the edges. it will work well enough for both colors. i am really fond of your painting. its very creative and well executed. please give us MOOOORE!
