Hi I have finally decide to start the Age of Sigmar. I used to play fantasy battle in last edition but I disheartened by the fact it need a lot of miniature. So I sold the army and been away from Warhammer(I keep playing various game tho). But I always wanted to play Lizardmen...Seraphon...and I bought finally bought "Start Collecting" box. Now I'm going to make some miniature and list(using General's Hand book). People around me play 1000pts game so I'll need 1000pts army. Question is what I should buy next. I like Sarus Knights and Carnosaurus so I want to play Firelance. From what I read from this forum, I figured out this list for 1000. Leader: Scar-Vet on Carno(General) 260 Skink Starpriest(I think I can build this guy from Troglodon) 100 Battleline: 5 Saurus Knights *3 360 10 Saurus Warrior *2 200 Battalion: Firelance 60 This is simplest idea I came up with. Just buying another "Start Collecting" box. But if there is other idea and advice on purchasing please let me know!
Looks like a good build, yes make the skink from the trog into your starpriest, you can make an oldblood on foot and still have a head left over to make a scarvet on cold one. Firelance is a fun one. Speedy and great damage on the charge.
Thank you. My concern is lack of strong object grabber but Warrior would do that job....maybe? And I'm wondering what weapon is best for the Warriors. Since i will not run them in Horde in this list, is it better with Clubs?
Sounds like a good list, will have to look see if can make a star priest from the bits, im rubbish at kitbashing lol
Sure, for small units club is the way to go. Spears are for hordes, and even then you could not be able to exploit their superior number of attacks. Now, a personal advice: Knights and firelance is "almost" mandatory with the starting boxes, but there are many things around AoS that are much more deadly in delivering mortal wounds, so you need to buff your "can opener". A good next buy could be a skink starseer: not only is a beautiful model, but he will be able to buff your knights.
Use the skink Oracle from the starter box troglodon (assuming you're building the carno) as the Starpriest. You can get a lot out of that box if you build it right.
Thank you guys! With your advice I bought Knight box and I got (used) saurus warriors from friends. I'll arm Warriors with Clubs. Yeah, I agree Skink Starseer is beautiful model. I'll put him on buy list. But I could not resist to buy "Bastiladon"....So I got him first. Good shooty unit for larger game,right? And by the way, Which weapon should I give to Scar-Vet? Since there is not much benefit for other weapon, I feel like I would give him normal club but I want to hear some opinion.
You can kitbash a Skink Priest from the Stegadon box, and it looks way better than trying to kitbash one from the Carnosaur sprues
