Hello all, I love everything about the Stegadon model. The giant, beefy Triceratops beast and the Skink crew running around on the oversized castle on its back make me really excited to paint it. I would also like to field it on the battlefield. AoS has some ambiguous wording, but I would argue that you can use the Skink Alpha's ability on itself. Is this the general consensus? For one thing it makes sense. A skink Alpha is commanding the Skinks and the Stegadon to perform their duties. Also the wording from the Thunderquake formation confirms that the Stegadon is in fact a "unit." And more specifically, it's a Skink Unit. This means it satisfies both of the requirements of the Skink Alpha's ability. A) Skink Unit B) Within 8 inches. I face a lot of grots, bloodletters, etc and I actually think the Stegadon can do very well against some horde armies. I think the Skink Alpha ability really helps and pushes thing close to being a real viable option against infantry. With the ability it moves 8 + D6 inches, and rerolls all to hit of 1's. Let me know your opinion! Thanks!
Yes, you can use it on itself, any ability a unit has can be used on itself. It's on the FAQ, so you have been validated!
I wish they would have just taken the time to clarify some of their wording. I mean it makes sense to me, but it leaves just enough ambiguity to create some doubt.
Even without the FAQ, it satisfies the requirements/rules of the command and it also makes sense from a design standpoint. I mean, it's a Skink leader, why wouldn't it be able to command it's on entourage and the actually thing it's riding...
I had the same thoughts! I'm so excited about that I might go and get a stegadon and an EOtG. Now with the alpha can you use it to channel the powers from the slann/kroak through it?
No unfortunately having the Alpha does not give it the Hero keyword, and Kroak can't use arcane vassal.
