Having just recently been convinced to get into Age of Sigmar by the local community out here in Hawaii, I decided to start a Seraphon army. Lizards are certainly different from what I've been painting recently (15mm Bretonnians for Kings of War, 15mm Early Germans for ancients war gaming, and 28mm cowboy figures for Dracula's America just to name a few of my most recent projects). I've been seriously painting for probably about two years now. I wouldn't say I'm an amazing painter, but I've become pretty adept at putting out cleanly painted models for tabletop gaming.

I'll start by posting four WIP Saurus Warriors that are my first Seraphon models that I've ever painted. Still need to finish up the spear and shield, and also decide if I'm going to paint them with one of the constellation paint schemes. Does anyone have an recommendations on getting a nice bright gold? I have Retributor Gold, Gehenna Gold, and Auric Armor Gold on hand at the moment.

Method I used for these guys was from Duncan's tutorial:
    Kantor Blue basecoat all over
    Sotek Green basecoat on flesh
    Nuln Oil wash on scales
    Coelia Greenshade wash on flesh
    Imrik Blue drybrush on scales
Temple Guard blue highlight on flesh

Awesome! I'm not a massive fan of blue lizardmen but those look ace

They look really good, I love blue Seraphon (mine are blue)

Bright gold, Retributor gold, shade with Reikland fleshshade, reapply Retributor leaving recesses, drybrush Auric gold then spot highlight with Stormhost silver/Runefang steel (apply on edges and corners)

Finished up the four test models tonight. Overall, I'm pretty happy with them. I'm going to skip on painting the warpaint since I'd like to have a painted army earlier sooner than later. Next up on the table are more Saurus Warriors and maybe some surprise non-Seraphon bonus models coming up this weekend or early next week.

I might go back and highlight the gold bits up some more, but as far as I'm concerned they're tabletop ready. One issue I'm having is how to paint the blades to make them look like obsidian because right now they look rather flat.

Tried a little experiment to make the spears look more like obsidian. Came out okay but will require tweaking. 20180308_001157.jpg

Ah I see, a little highlight really makes them shine more.

Now for something a little different, although related to lizardmen in a roundabout way. I painted up an old 90s dark elf witch from Blood Bowl to use the star player Roxanna Darknail since GW never made a model for her. I purchased an Amazon team from a third party company so expect to see them show up in some of my updates. 28928461_1719388988100255_967321497_o.jpg

IMO the head is a bit out of proportion but otherwise she looks good.

That's the classic citadel proportions for you. Overemphasize the head, weapons and for female figures boobs

I'm surprised no one pointed out how her fists are the size of her head! Also old female Citadel figures have a tendency to give their females very masculine faces, although this one isn't too terrible. I was mostly using her as a test model to try out highlighting black and I wanted to use some of the pink paints I've had lying around for a while now. Maybe one day I'll pick up a nicer third party witch elf or convert my own.

The fists being the size of her head is Hallmark old citadel heroic style

Minor update. Spent a little more money than I'd like to admit on an unopened metal Eternity Warden and decided he needed a buddy to hang out with so I made him one using the excellent tutorial posted on this site. I used an eBay rescue Saurus Warrior and bits left over from the Getting Started box. I thought the Warriors were going to be useless since they were equipped with clubs and later decided to run my Warriors with spears, but I've managed to find uses for them. Maybe one day I'll buy the official model, but I think this guy will do until then. Now I just need to clean all this superglue off my fingers.

Not much painting just lots and lots of assembling, but I did manage a kitbash that might come in handy for someone else. I decided to use my Start Collecting box to make an Oldblood on Carnosaur, and one of my recent lists required a Scar Vet on Cold One. Not wanting to buy GW's, and not terribly impressed with it either, I decided to bash my own together with some of the bits in the Carnosaur kit.

Head is just the Scar Vet from the Carnosaur kit with the neck snipped down and filed flush to fit on a normal Saurus Knight body. The pick is in the Knight kit, and the shield is from the Carnosaur kit. Because the Knights have their shields molded to their arms, I got a little creative. I snipped the drumstick off the left musician arm from the Knight kit, trimmed off the bauble on the bracelet, and turned it into a shield arm. Also snipped the little feather bit off the bottom of the drumstick and put it on the pick just to give it a little more flair. Overall, pretty happy with it.
