So, I got a Carnosaur for completing my exams the other day and have decided to make him as Kroq-Gar as his fluff is awesome and I can also use him as a great weapon Oldblood or Scar-Vet. Here you go, enjoy! Here he is built with the slightly converted Skink Oracle to make a Chief with (optional) BSB and two hand weapons.
Here's the Chief about halfway through painting: For the purple skin, I used Xereus purple and then washed it with Druchii Violet. Then, the bone-coloured parts were Steel legion drab with Ushabti bone over the top and then washed with Agrax Earthshade to give it some depth. The gold is the old GW Shining Gold washed with Agrax Earthshade and finally the Jade on the standard is Incubi Darkness with 'veins' of A 50-50 mixture of Incubi Darkness and the old GW Fortress Grey.
He's either going to be blue or red but i'm a bit stuck on that as I have a red stegadon and not many blue paints, What would you go with @ASSASSIN_NR_1?
If you want him to stand out a bit, I would go for blue, so he does not "blend" in with the stegadon. Maybe blue with red marks of some kind (stripes, spots...) or maybe like this: Maybe black with leopard spots, with blue or red inside. You could make up a backstory for your character, and with that determine how his mount should look. You could also mix the colors, giving him a red body with blue scales or vice versa. There is no final answer, but as of now, I would probably pick the blue, and use red in some way to make it catch the eye more easily. Ultimately it's up to you, so choose something you will be happy with, but I hope this helps, and might spark your imagination.
I've decided to go for blue with a Yellow-Orange head so the head hasn't been painted but here's the base coated carno...
So after trying my hand at a bit of airbrushing, I have completed the merge between the blue body and the yellow head.
The bone chair has been painted, the head has been washed and drybrushed and the blue scales have been highlighted. The mouth is also in progress and the claws are done.
I'm back after a short break with more of the Carno: Most of the gold and bone parts are complete, just a few more bits to do
Surprisingly not, the colour scheme is fairly simplistic so that helps and the tricky parts and indents aren't that hard to get to
Looking good, but the yellow could be more striking. Maybe it's the camera, but to me it looks pretty washed. It could use some heavier washes and brighter highlights, like the stomach.
Very nice work... it's looking really good. I agree with Caprasauridae that brighter yellow highlights would make it even better.
So I managed to totally forget about this thread until today, which happens to be the day I finished Kroq-Gar, enjoy
