Hey folks, So rather than keep opening new it reads, I thought I'd start a painting and conversion log. Below, I will post up my recent almost finished Gor-Rok, a saurus unit filler and the current status of (my current project) Lord Mazdamundi. Oh, I also collect High Elves so you may have to look at elves every now and again! Here goes; Gor-Rok in a unit of saurus warriors Current status of spawning pool unit filler to be used for either warriors or temple guard Lord Mazdamundi: Full shot The palequin will be removable and can be put on a 50 mm base for either slann model or if steg dies Maz with the beginnings of his crown and the end of the cobra mace The top of the cobra mace. More work still to be done. Let me know what you think!
Re: Nexs painting and conversion log Looking great so far, can't wait to see how tis progresses. Spawning pool filler is a great idea.
Re: Nexs painting and conversion log Cool conversion. I do think the half-circle plate might look better behind the crest of the steg rather than in front of it though.
Re: Nexs painting and conversion log I am trying to get it as close to the artwork from the book as possible. I might try and get something else to fill behing the crest. I'll have to have a play around though...hmm
Re: Nexs painting and conversion log Next phase. Maz on his pimp ride (EDIT: fixed autocorrect!) Note Mazdamundi's crown and cobra mace To-be gold horns Baby Skink with fan Full side shot with fan Skink and cobra mace location
Re: Nexs painting and conversion log [Mazdamundi 21i/6/13] I have been a bit busy this week and haven't had much time, but this is what I've done since my last post. Mazdamundi (note that the golden crown actually does stand out as metallic) Unit filler for TG unit w/slann statue
Re: Nexs painting and conversion log [Update: 26/06/2013] Looking good. Maybe an extra highlight of either burnished gold or mithril silver to make the crown stand out more? Just a thought: wouldn't a Slann statue in a TG unit just look like a slann, and be super confusing?
Re: Nexs painting and conversion log [Update: 26/06/2013] I might throw on some white highlights and gold over the top to make it shinier. I'll do that tonight and post it up I did consider that, however, before I glue the Saurus onto the base I'm going to paint up the statue with gray and browns and some cracks etc to make it look like stone. If it doesn't work then i'll scrap it. I was struggling quite badly with thinking of an idea for a TG filler, so if you have any ideas I'm open to them entirely!!
Re: Nexs painting and conversion log [Update: 26/06/2013] I'll always love the old frog Slann, and Mazdamundi is looking great! I'm inspired to design my own.
Re: Nexs painting and conversion log [Update: 1/07/2013] Hi Guys, Haven't uploaded anything for about a week (slack, I know!). So I've lightened some parts of Maz's crown (thanks Mossy!), and I'll get a pic of it soonish. This time, i've got my work on the oldblood to show. I've painted up some stones from my garden for the base, which really sturdies the model! I have done more work since these photos, which I will update as soon as I can!
Re: Nexs painting and conversion log [Update: 26/06/2013] There's something sufficiently lazy about last edition Slann! So here's old blood at current state And with old rusty shield attached
Re: Nexs painting and conversion log [Update: 2/7/2013] Cheers, dude! I should have my first piece of jungle scenery to show soon too.
Re: Nexs painting and conversion log [Update: 2/7/2013] I'm loving the rusty look you have got going on with the shield and other gold/brass/copper look, also the dark skin tone of the cold one really makes the riders blue skin stand out which I like.
Re: Nexs painting and conversion log [Update: 2/7/2013] Thanks friend. My theory is that he is an oldblood, therefore very old (makes sense). His gear would be old also, perhaps not as old as him, as he would outlive mose gear, but gotta give his stuff a dated look.
Re: Nexs painting and conversion log [Update: 2/7/2013] On, so here is what I have for the blade of realities. Its still got some drying to do, so the cloudy bits should clear up a little. I've also got some more decorations and painting to do, as well as some more converting and green stuffing to do, but here tis.
Re: Nexs painting and conversion log [Update: 2/7/2013] Ok, so the mounted old blood is finally finished. Shield and trophies My next project will be to get at least the first rank of the cavalry done
Re: Nexs painting and conversion log [Update: 7/7/2013] Looks bloody awesome! Good job on the blade of realities, I think you nailed it. The extra skulls and heads are a good touch. With the clump foliage, if you have a different colour foliage to intersperse or put on top, it might add some more depth to it. Likewise with adding another final drybrush highlight to the tiny rocks at the back on the base.
Re: Nexs painting and conversion log [Update: 7/7/2013] Thanks Moss! I don't have any other clump stuff, but I reckon i'll invest in some and add it! As far as the rocks go, i'll see what I can find - all I did was grab some stones from my driveway and give them a coat of the old Chestnut Wash, and spilled some nightshade wash into the wet coat on the bottom stone to give it a marble type of look, so i'll see if i can but i have to be careful as the saturation has to be spot on or it'll look cartoonish! Thanks for the feed back, i'll post pics up as soon as i've tried it out. And i'll have some jungle terrain to show off soon as well. EDIT: I also have some CoC to show soon as well! Also, big game of warhammer (3.5k) tonight vs. WoC. We'll see how this bad boy (blade of realities) goes against juggernauts!!
