This is a project I am nearly ready to start utilising a Troglodon model as the base for a Seraphon themed Celestial Hurricanum (That will actually look like it fits with the army). Havent started yet but have picked up all the parts needed to scratch build the orrery that will go on the back. You'll have to use your imagination at this point but I think it has a lot of potential, and I will make the straps holding it on to be secured with magnets so I can still use the Troglodon on its own.
I want to do that, too, using a Bastiladon though. My main problem right now is fining the device to fit onto it. Most stuff I find is too big. EDIT: Or small enough but too expensive, like this one: https://www.etsy.com/de/listing/491...ry&ga_search_query=gyroscope&ref=sr_gallery_2
Make your own dude! Model shops, DIY shops, will sell plastic tubes of varying diameters for super cheap... Saw off the size you need, drill little holes and stick through some variety of stick like things... A small ball or marble in the center. Job done!
I'll post some more pics tomorrow afternoon! But I've worked out the perfect thing at least for my conversion... Cheap table tennis balls for the sphere, which I will cut openings into carefully. And cheap plastic storage containers with medium thick plastic for all flat materials. Map pins (from a news agency) for the right scale planets.
That's an awesome idea! Now that I've seen that photo (the inspiration one), I think it was the original Engine of the Gods conversion for the Lustria campaign years ago by one of the GW team (Neil Hodgson I think? That name's ringing a bell) They used a mix of the old carnosaur head with a forgeworld kroot monster (and lots of saurus standard bearer bits)
