damn, I was hoping that they'd include my main army, Bretonnia, at launch, since it's so similar to the armies that they're used to. oh well, it should be one of the simpler ones to do later, or mod, I guess :)
I'm predicting that lizzies will get there eventually, purely from the fact that our army could easily be one of the prettiest / most dynamic to look at animated.

The prices of consoles really haven't gone down that much.

With a couple exceptions prices have been roughly between 350-450 dollars (adjusted for inflation).

Hmmm. I'm not sure how much I can agree with that given the price difference between sample max/min is about $866. Of course, that's as an example of general change rather than price decrease.

    *re-checks sources*

So, apparently I used the worst example in selecting the 1990s (the late 1990s anyway - blame my bias as a result of the N64 being my first console). However, it wasn't greatest time to get into consoles in the early '80s/'90s in terms of adjusted console costs. Obviously, such comparisons aren't really effective given how the price fluctuates within and between each decade.

Speaking of the main point...I'm still fairly indifferent to DLC overall. Meh. If I get new content without having to get a seemingly incomplete game first I'm happy.

I think this is really the best way to look at it/approach devs should be taking.

I hope it turns out to be Elder Scrolls!!

I agree. Some DLC is a genuine addition to the game and is a good value. But I've seen other DLC that was deliberately left off the original game with the preconceived intention of being sold at a late date.

Just like both Rome 2 and Atilla Total War :p unfortunately the same will likely happen for this game.

    This seems fairly Interesting....

I remember buying the Mark of Chaos RTS when it came out, hoping for Lizard DLC....
And that game did play very much like a lesser TW game. With one very annoying feature, we do see more and more; only Online play or campaign. Where were the generic battles we all loves in Warhammer for single player? I mean if I want to play to learned the game, sometimes I like to do so on my own terms; not through a horrible campaign.... *Sigh*

    Nuff said

TW could really bring life into the universe and give us a decent warhammer strategy game, however I would say that it can wait until a couple of DLC and updates as come along and made the game playable.

Here to wishing for a Lizard men army!

That didn't stop GW from liscensing a Skaven based RTS on the Playstation 1 back in the day. My little brother had it, but I never played it due to having never played WHFB and being more interested in 40k. Oh how my interests have changed. :)

Didn't say it was impossible, only a bit awkward. o_O
of the Many PC RTS games only a small handful get ported.

Edit: huh I guess Warhammer: mark of chaos was one of them though....

so your chances did go up a tiny bit.

    So the question becomes twofold...
    1. Will they bring it to the consoles?
    2. If they did, can they do a good job of it?

From the sounds of it, the answer to both questions is "probably not" :(

No xD get it out of your head and save yourself the dissapointment. The currnent gen consoles are not made for this. If CA ever tried it would be a gimped version and nobody would be happy. Best case scenario? Someone makes an Elderscrolls-like Warhammer game. Now that would be amazing.

I don't think the question is whether or not they could get the controls done right, it's more the fact that they'd struggle with even the world map unless they'd completely gimp it.

Hmmm.... A single Player Roleplaying experience in the Warhammer Fantasy world, you say..... Count me in! :D

But to follow up on the possibility of a porting: The CA Total War games works perfect for PC, and thus it would seemingly lose a bit if its game structure, should it be made for multiple platforms. However! As far as I know, this is the first game CA does in coopoeration with other companies, so who knows? (I could be wrong on this one though)

CA won't port to other systems, that would probably take a lot of effort they're not used to an the company's already going out on a limb making their first non-historic game. I'd rather they not push their luck.

As for an RPG, I found out someone's been busy resurrecting Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning from the dead and Tier 1's fully back up. They're evening balancing and repairing it. I'll post more on that soon.

Personally I'd rather see a Skyrim type Warhammer game made, then have the Warhammer Online MMO raised from the dead. I know such a game will never be made (at least up to the Elder Scrolls level of quality), but a Lizard can dream can't he?

    Just to summarize:

Basically all units from the board game are represented - at least for the O&G faction.
Magic is randomized before a battle start - stuff like the Comet of Cassandoram Foot of Gork etc is present.
Characters can gain level and new items.
Still the feel of a total war game, but also very much in line with Warhammer.
