2015 will be the year we finish the 8th edition Handbook. It has been 90% done for ages and ages. We need a few sample 2500 lists that are fun to play and competitive. Place your submissions here!

Also we have a secondary section for out of the box ideas. If you have an unusual list that did moderately well, post that too.

Here is a list that I've been playing with recently. It comes out to exactly 2500 points.

    Slann w/ Light Magic
    BSB, Skavenpelt Banner, Channeling Staff
Harmonic Convergence, Becalming Cogitation, Soul of Stone

    Tetto'ekko

30 Temple Guard w/ Razor Standard & Full Command

40 Saurus Warriors with Spears & Full Command

    14 Skink Cohorts w/ 1 Kroxigor & Musician

10 Skink Skirmishers (Javs & Shields)

    Ancient Stegadon
Engine of the Gods, Sharpened Horns

    Bastiladon
    Solar Engine

    Troglodon
    Divining Rod

I put the Slann in the Temple Guard and run them in horde formation. The Saurus Warriors go 5 wide in bus formation. Tetto'ekko hangs out behind the Temple Guard in the Skink Cohort unit.

The Stegadon and Bastiladon flank the Temple Guard while the Troglodon stays between the two Saurus units and keeps back to protect the rear from Fast Cav/Scouts/Fliers. The stegadon should also be between the two Saurus units to give them all 6+ wards.

Sometimes I use Tetto to just vanguard the Temple Guard into the face of my opponent to get an early charge off. Sometimes I turtle up in a corner and let my opponent come to me through a storm of Comets and Magic Missiles.

Edit: and if you're into Swedish Comp, this comes out at an even 10.0

This would be my tournament list, it is made to challenge the enemy in every phase with strong movement, shooting magic and CC. It is also good in the deployment phase as you have a lot of chaff skink units you can put down before you put down the dough. Stegs run together and try to charge multi wound models whenever. The core is the TG and the sauri. The chief is mainly to hunt warmachines and to kill other chaff with the egg and his 3+ safe. The thing i am most unsure about is the skink, as some types of shooting other then bolt throwers and cannon balls can kill him easy, but it's just so fun to fly a skink around the place, and he is the only warmachine hunting the list has.

Slann BSB. Discipline. Scepter. Convergence. Cogitation. Mystery. Soul of Stone

    Heroes
Scar Vet Cold One. Light. GW. Dawnstone. Dragonhelm. Shield.
Skink Chief Terradon. Egg. Charmed Shield. Blowpipe. Sword of Striking. Light.

    Core
20 Saurus Warriors HWS. Banner. Music.
    11 Skink Skirmishers Javelin Shield.
    11 Skink Skirmishers Javelin Shield.
    11 Skink Skirmishers Javelin Shield.
    11 Skink Skirmishers Javelin Shield.

    Special
    5 Knights Spears. Music.
26 TG Halberds. Music. Banner. Eternal Flame.
Stegadon Sharpened Horns. Giant Bow. Javelins.

A bit of background to this list. I'v thought it out based on what i'v read on these forums in the tactics section and combined that with the models that i'd like to run and the kind of game i'd like to play. It's designed to be used at a tournament where I have no control over my opponents army lists or who i face. Bare in mind as well this is largely theoretical as i don't play much WFB at this time. So without further ado here it is!

    Lord
    Slann Mage Priest
    BSB w standard of Discipline
    Becalming Cogitation
    Focus of Mystery
    Harmonic Convergence
    Channelling Staff
    Lore of High Magic

    Hero
    Scar Vet
    Great Weapon
    Cold One
    Armour of Destiny

    Skink Priest
    lvl 1
    Lore of Heavens
    Cloack of Feathers

    Skink Priest
    level 1
    Lore of Beasts
    Flying Carpet

    Core

    25 Saurus Warriors
    full command
    spears

    2 x 10 Skink Skirmishers w Javelin & Shield

    2 x 10 Skink Skirmishers w Blowpipes

    Special
    20 Temple Guard
    Full Command
    Banner of Swiftness

    5 cold one riders

    5 Chameleon Skinks

    3 Ripperdactyls

    Bastilodon
    Solar Engine

    Rare
    Ancient Stegadon
    Sharpened Horns

    Total
    2499

This is a list that mixes some big monsters and what I think to be some great mobility and utility backed by a hard center. If i was going to a tournament this is the list that i'd probably take with some possible tweaks after play-testing.

My Chess List. Everyone knows pawns control the chess board. Lizardmen may be the most powerful army when it comes to controlling the board with skinks, chameleons and rippers

Slann - (General, BSB) Channeling Staff, standard of discipline, Focus, Harmonic
Skink Chief - Ripper, Egg, charmed shield, luckstone, spear, light armor
Skink Priest - lvl 1 beast, dispel scroll
Skink Priest - lvl 1 beast, cube of darkness
Skink Priest - lvl 1, scroll of shielding (MUST for purple sun)

2 UNITS OF: 20 Saurus Warriors with spears, full command
4 UNITS OF: 10 Skink Skirmishers with blowpipes

8 CO Riders with spears, musician, standard
    3 Ripper Riders
2 UNITS OF: 5 chameleon skinks
    1 Bastiladon with Solar Engine
    1 Stegadon

But Purple Sun ignores all saves including Ward saves... what is the purpose of the scroll of shielding in that situation?

Thank you for pointing that out. I play in a league where we allow WS. Forgot that this does not apply normally. That frees up 15 points for maybe 2 more skirmishers.

I would probably drop that Skink priest altogether. You would still have a Slann, 2 priests and the Solardon bound spell. I don't think you'll have enough power dice to go around.

I started putting some of these in the handbook.

@airjamy and @LTERALUS have similar lists but I included both.

@Lizard Wizard, while your list is fine I wanted to playtested and proven lists to go into the Handbook.

@MasterKrox, I am intrigued by your list. We don't have a sample Monster Mash or even a Monster Mash/Traditional army for the handbook yet, but you need to edit your OP to have less short hand. Even I'm not sure what this means:
Also for the most part, these lists are standard deviations from the Traditional army style. If anyone has a purist Skink Cloud, Monster Mash, or Predatory army that works in a very competitive environment, I'd be interested in seeing it.

I also would be interested in seeing Slann-less lists that work in very competitive environments.

Haven't posted here in a long time, but this would be the army I've sort of landed on for 8th edition Lizardmen.

Slann: Harmonic, Becalming, Channeling Staff, BSB, Lore of Light

Scar-Vet: Cold One, Armour of Destiny, GW
Skink Chief: Ancient Stegadon, LA, Spr, Charmed Shield, Dragonbane Gem, The Egg of Quango
Skink Priest: Lvl 1, Dispel Scroll, Lore of Heavens

    11 Skink Cohort: Std
24 Saurus Warriors: Std, Mu, HW + S
    4x10 Skink Skirmishers: J + S

    2x3 Ripperdactyl Riders
24 Temple Guard: Std, Mu, Flaming Banner

    Ancient Stegadon
    Salamander

Pretty basic stuff, no upgrades on the Stegadons as I prefer keeping their points relatively low. The Stegadons and Skinks are the primary tools for dealing with mobile elements and chaff. Rippers contest vanguards and scouts of the opponent, but generally hang back and look to support fights rather than going on suicide missions.
