8th Ed. How are you preparing for 9th?

With rumours of Lizardmen being completely wiped, how are you preparing for 9th?

Are you ignoring the news?

Are you hoping there will still be some way to play them?

 

Most of the rumours seem to indicate that the Lizardmen will still be compatible with 9th edition, but they won't be receiving anymore updates. Essentially I see it as a slow death, as the army continually becomes less and less competitive (and relevant).

Unless the rumours are drastically incorrect, I plan to continue on with 8th edition. I like 8th edition, and I don't see any point in spending money on an edition that is less appealing. I like the individual character of each of the unique factions; that's one of my favourite aspects of warhammer. If GW throws all that out the window, then I'll just continue to develop my hobby without them. I only wish that they had released one last FAQ clearing up the remaining issues with 8th edition (predatory fighter, kroak-bomb, etc.)

 

My reaction to it was to start a lizard men army, to save the lizard men.

Why are the(if the are ) even considering such a dumb idea? Do they only want a couple of armies and lizards thus had to be scrapped, are there no one playing them in any larger variety or is this just another stupid move from a long running company, forgetting that their costumers likes them for the variation and different kinds of armies. ...

I have allready started to rebase my armies to round bases.......fortunately i only have two armies. Unfortunately one is 25.000 points and has a 25 year history.

but on a more serious note. I am just waiting and seeing. imho from a business point of view the rumors dont make that much sense to me, so am not really buying them completely

 

Same here as borkbork. I don't really trust the rumours at this point as they have been indicating so many things happening just to be revoked on the next bunch. I'll wait and see what they will end up doing and enjoy the game as it is now.

There is no reason to be afraid of what is to come , you should rather focus on what is now, and right now, the Lizardmen are difinetely still here, and it seems we were the only ones to survive the End Times, so it can't be that bad, and if it is, we can make our own army book, like the Chaos Dwarves.

I'm not really buying most of the rumors. I doubt they are going cut any of the armies and the round bases just sound weird if there are so many boxes going around and being sold daily to customers. It would be quite a nasty move to pull on your customers.

By the way do we even know when 9th edition is coming out?

Current rumours seem to point to July 11th. But no one knows for certain.

 

I started a webpage to gather ideas for for Lizardhammer.

 

I have also been pondering, "What other army would Lizardmen be a good proxy force for?"

(....anything but ratmen is as far as I'd got....)

Waiting until I get as far as three entries. I set it up last week, then I scurried off to ReaperCon, and now I am trying to catch up with everything I left in the lurch.

......... im completely ignoring the rumors.
I dont believe they will shaft the scale boys...and if so, I will convert my fellas into one or more armies for future scaled glory.

 

I'm reading the rumors, but I'm not believing any particular one. What I am believing is that no one knows what to believe, so I'm not spending another dime on WFB miniatures until 9E emerges. (see what uncertainty does to spending, GW?). I'm still playing 8E, and painting the models I do have, but no special active preparation.

...though if that one rumor about a separate pre-9E skirmish-level game comes true I may get that...

 

I am going to continue to try and get my army off the ground first. Just started the dern thing and I want to be able to use it!

I have followed most of the 9th edition rumours and I am pretty sure there never were reliable rumours about the lizardmen not being playable in 9th. Most rumours say that all 8th edition armys remain playable and some indicate that lizardmen will not be updated by the new edition.
That being said, I realy doubt that any rumourmonger can predict more than maybe 2 years in advance. Our book is from 2013 so I would not expect a lizardmen update before 2017 to 2018. So all the rumours say, is that we will not get an update in the forseeable future, which basicly means that not much has changed for us.
