Actually, currently the Europeans hold the lead... http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/which-continent-do-you-consider-to-be-home.16108/
I've run a similar list with Terradons instead of Stegs and all skinks for core. Tetto eko can really add some punch to the list by letting you re-roll those 1's and the Vanguard can be good on Kroak's unit if you want to see combat with it. I think I like the Stegs better because you could whittle down the units and mop them up with the Stegs. I play Kroak's spell and the EotG so that they don't hit units in combat. I'd like it actually work the other way but it just isn't worth the argument and I've still won games with them. Good list!
I don't believe Tet is worth the points since you probably aren't going to be casting with him much. Presumably you want to cast Kroak's spell to the max. I haven't used Kroak yet. Is it that important to have flying vassals? A Skink Priest on foot can march 12 inches. It seems inefficient to buy the second priest a flying carpet.
I've run the Kroak bomb many many times with favourable results. Keep in mind my meta has FAQd Deliverance to hit in combat as we usually play in ETC format which allows this. Tetto is not worth it, he simply sucks dice out of more bubbles of Deliverance and the arcane vassal rule is found cheaper elsewhere. Run as many skinks as possible to force them to engage the beefed up TG. It is almost never worth casting a boosted version unless you only have 4-5 dice to their 3-4 in which case going for the 18" is fine. Troglodon may be considered here, as he provides a vassal another channel and two types of combat support for the TG.
@Scalenex a flying vassal should be enough, but fly is not for movement: the purpose is to put the skinks in the middle of enemy army, and sometimes it means you have to fly over units. I'd still field the one with the cloak anyway. Regarding Tetto, you pay 185 pts for: casting buff (for Kroak) a secondary caster (remember that the other skinks will die faster than @Scolenex without bamboo) vanguard (for kroak's unit, for vassals or for chaff, anyway very useful) a full lore with buffs and hexes (kroak has no utility and if -1 to hit for enemies is good, -2 is great) For me Tetto is always great, and Kroak is a good partner for him. Maybe it's just my playstyle, but i like it
SURVEY SAYS.... http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/which-continent-do-you-consider-to-be-home.16108/
I wrote this list mostly to really abuse the ‘’gimmick’’ of the Kroak bomb, if I wanted to play in a tournament, I would 100% check if the rules allowed for casting into CC, and if they did not, I would go with another list. This is more the surprise your opponent, have a good time list, and I mostly really wanted the two skinks for the look on my opponents face when I land one in the middle of his army when I start casting Itza. This is also another reason for me to not bring Tetto, he does not seem all that competitive, nor is he a part of the gimmick, he actually subtracts from it in some way. I still appreciate the suggestion for using Tetto though. J
Both ETC and Swedish Comp FAQ´s say that the spells Lord Kroak as well as Engine of the Gods can hit targets all around, also in combat. Of course you should discuss this with your opponent in advance, but as long as we do not have an official GW FAQ (which will probably never come), these both important comp system FAQ´s have at least a certain authority, IMHO. My mates have accepted this.
That's a pretty interesting way of solving it, it is at the very least a good argument to use in the discussion on how to use the rule.
So Mithrilherz where do you read in the swedish FAQs that Kroaks spell also works against enemies in combat? Thx
Swedish Comp FAQ 4.3.1, Topic 19.4: 19.4. Q: Can Engine of Gods’ and Lord Kroak’s spells target units outside front arc and in close combat? A: Yes to both. This is the same as in the ETC FAQ 2015
Mighty 8th Edition Kroak thread... I resurrect thee. Rise up and grace us with your glory! Reading over the posts of this thread (especially the ones quoted above) has me leaning towards believing that Kroak can indeed cast into combat. All the accumulated little bits of evidence seem to line up that way. Definitely not clear cut, but that's my thinking (at least for now... as a Tzeentchian my belief/opinion can be fickle)
long time since i've read the rules, or they minded... I still think what i used to: DoItza can target units in CC. If you have to quote me tho i think these quotes could be as useful as the one you've posted:
Well, i did not expect this one to be rezzed from the dead. Fun to see that the concensus is that it is probably legal to do this? I still have never tried this myself, and i would love to hear how stuff goes if you actually play this list against a decent opponent. The big fear is that when you fling in your Skink, you roll those double ones for the magic phase, and then you are sad.
I am going to ress this for the second time (much like kroak himself!) and contribute that my gaming club is reading the rule as being able to target models in combat - without me needed to quote ETC FAQ. I am going to give this list a go! going to swap stegs for cowboys though as mentioned earlier. EDIT: I have noticed that the rules for direct damage spells have an "unless otherwise stated..." clause with regard to targeting etc which seems pretty clear to me. In either case we are going to play a game with combat targeting and a game without. If it's a white wash we will know pretty soon.
