Last year we did the Skinkathalon with decent success. Would anyone be interested in participating in yet another competition? Perhaps not the best timing with Age of Sigmar right around the corner. Thoughts? I might try and get prizes this time to, like say... DICE? Mwahaha...
Sure, why not? The owner of a game store told me he thought that some kind of info about AoS would be divulged about two weeks out. Timetable Sat June 20 = 2 weeks out. Sat July 4th = pre-order day for the worshipful company of fanboyz loyalists, and others. Tue July 7th = ReaperMinis Bones III Kickstarter goes live ... millions of gaming dollars to be spent on not-GW products. Sat July 11 = Age of Sigmar divulged, at last. Themes for this contest could be: ..LM models most likely to be squatted.. or ..Models I hardly ever field anyways so might as well put them on a rounded base..
I think it might be an idea to wait with the competition until August, when we are certain what the new edition will contain. But if people are up for it, we could perhaps do a small one now as well?
Small one sounds good to me. Hold off on the prizes and such until after the release when everyone knows what direction they'll be focusing their efforts. Also, a small round could work as a good warm-up as well as give people time to get used to the idea.
Themes got you down, bruh? Ok, sounds like interest on both sides of the fence. We'll do a mini comp this month, maybe start next week. Then we'll do a full blown comp with goodies and glory after the dust settles. Paint for the Paint Throne!!
...Sorry... Just two ways of saying, "grab something that is languishing on the Shelf of Shame™ for whatever gaming reasons and slap it on a round base".
Oh I am up for this..since I am recollecting lizardmen. It might be something to boost us up...perhaps a very much needed fun event!
@NIGHTBRINGER category 1 is just for you. Drawing heavily on Skinkathalon Here is a more concrete proposal: ____________________________ PAINTSUMPTHIN SCALEY - 2015 Sumpthin = Something = some one thing. One thing could be as much as: A pair of cavalry, A kroxigor, A rank of Saurus, A squad of skinks, A Pterodon with rider, A Salamander with handlers, A little Sotek monument... Or any Lizardmen/Reptilian single model that is not a big honkin' monster. Entrants must submit at least ONE model or no more than FIVE models in combinations such as listed above. Please no large monsters, steggy's, dragon's etc. Mix-n-matched models must at least fit together in a coherent manner. ALL models must be painted to completion within the contest timeframe. CATEGORIES There are 3 categories for this contest: 1. QUADRILATERALS 4 EVER!!! This includes ANY model(s) that fit the contest theme. But on square bases. Because. Reasons. 2. CIRCLES, CIRCLES, ROUNDS... This includes ANY model(s) that fit the contest theme but on round or oval bases because the painter welcomes our new corner-less Overlords. 3. SMALL DIORAMA This includes ANY model(s) that fit the contest theme and which fit within a footprint not much larger than the five model limit. The diorama MUST be able to tell a story without any explanation besides the title. Hopefully, it will be dramatic/comical/inspiring in some manner. Upper size limit: a 100x50mm rectangle or a 90mm round. No lower size limit. This could be A terrain article. CONTEST RULES Please read fully. 1. This contest is open to any and all who would like to enter, so long as they adhere to the required theme. 2. Entrants may use models from different armies or manufacturers, so long as the model is easily identified to fit the theme. 3. Entrants may use INFANTRY models from different armies to enhance their entry, so long as it is clear that the main emphasis is on models that fit the theme. 4. Entries MUST be submitted with a title. If no title is given, the entry will be named by some one else (warning: possibly Spawning of Bob) 5. Entrants MAY enter in multiple categories, but with only one entry per category. 6. NO MORE than 3 images per entry. 7. Photo-editing will grant you an immediate disqualification. You MAY however adjust the brightness, contrast, hue, size or other relevant adjustments. Questionable photos will be reviewed by the judges. IF YOU ADJUST YOUR PHOTO it is highly recommended that you keep an original copy of the image, just in case there is any concern to it's authenticity. TO SUBMIT AN ENTRY TBD VOTING TBD AWARDS!! TBD
It is just a proposal at this point. Not official. I suppose these bits: ...could be struck out. I was floating the idea of focusing on the small.
We can always do different categories. I like @pendrake's idea though. Something easy for now. My thoughts were to have it be a quick and easy paint comp as to not overshadow the bigger paint comp later this year. No prizes this time around so no need to paint the awesome models just yet. Paint comp coming to you soon!
...I LIKE THAT. I came here from a terrain site. I think I will go add it to the notion above. @Qupakoco :: check for the edits.
