So... exactly what Peter Jackson did? Well, maybe with the exception of stretching boring fight scenes... But I think we can blame this on Harry Potter movies. Wasn't that the first series that decided to split the final movie/book into two? Man, I would love to be able to watch the original trilogy with a clean slate. The problem was, that when they came out, I was too young, and then I saw then when they came out on TV. But I'm not sure if I saw them in order and if I even knew I was watching a sequel to something I might have seen six months earlier or something. So when I finally got my sith together and saw them in order, some grand plot twists weren't surprises anymore. You can find the all time box office hits with inflation taken into account here: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/adjusted.htm And when it comes to Star Wars, The Simpsons Comic Book Guy said it pretty aptly: "Worst Cosmic Wars ever! I will only see it three more times. Today..." I think it will do really well. I don't know many who hate Star Wars (I know plenty who hate Hunger Games, Tiwilight, Hobbit, Jurassic Park (after the third movie) etc.), so it will rake in all the long time fans, of course, but won't shut down more casual blockbuster fans, who will see all the big movies. Plus, I don't think there's much competition for it in blockbuster front in December.
I too enjoyed to books and agree that it was quite stretched and boring at certain points. I'm wondering how they are going to keep part two M. With everything that happens in the books (I won't say anything to spoil it) it's quite... Violent? My brother is a star wars fanatic and knows pretty much everything. He and I are both wondering if Mara Jade is going to be in the movie, but apparently she was killed off years before. It's just she's a total bad-ass girl so don't judge my hopes and dreams!
Mara Jade is a great character, but I don't think we will see her. I feel as though Disney is going to go there own way with the series. That's why they made the EU non-canon... a fresh start. I guess we'll see soon enough!
I'd love to see them do an offshoot movie covering the Darth Bane trilogy.... now that would be awesome!
Just saying... http://comicbook.com/2015/10/20/star-wars-the-force-awakens-has-already-sold-6-5-million-in-imax/
Look Force Awakens cannot be worse then Jurassic World, I was really hella critical of Jurassic World, but so amped for Star Wars. (I wanted those children to be eaten so bad)
I looked forward to Jurassic world but it was a massive let down, and yeah the kids getting eaten would have been a big help in my enjoyment of the film.
I could fill an entire forum with how much I was let down by Jurassic World But good or not I think I will love Force Awakens. As much as I didn't mind the new trilogy (that was my introduction when I was a kid, the new ones) I am hoping Force Awakens is a strong improvement on the series
It was pretty much what I expected. Dinosaurs attacking people and other dinosaurs. Lots of flashy CGI but no substance behind it. The Force Awakens will definitely be better than the prequel trilogy. The trailers have been spectacular so far and Disney has a lot riding on this.
You know with what Disney has done with Marvel movies bad ones seem to be the outlier now so I reallllyy doubt Jar Jar Abrahms can afford to frick it up. May it make good money!
