    Hi gang,

My son has absconded with my Lizardmen to field while playing Mordheim, so I'm putting together a Dark Elf warband to counter him. I'm in need of suggestions for models to field as Cold One Beasthounds. Here's the description from the warband list:

"The Dark Elves capture and breed many exotic creatures to fight for them and fights between pets are often staged as a form of entertainment amongst the Dark Elves. One such animal was discovered in Lustria. Distantly related to Cold Ones, the Cold One Beasthound lives in swamps and bogs. Cold One Beasthounds are larger than Wardogs and of similar build but are in all other respects reptilian. Rows of sharp teeth fill its maw, and when provoked, the Cold One Beasthound is a very aggressive beast. The Dark Elves capture and train these creatures to fight in battles all over the Warhammer world."

Any models come to mind? Something bulldog/mastiff-ish?

hmmm... maybe one of our warbeast, (salamanders or razordons), Or perhaps a chaos hound painted to be more reptilian (green).

Hm. I have a bunch of the old Salamanders, so maybe with the Chaos Hound head-swap, they would fit the bill. Thanks for the suggestions!

Daemon Flesh Hounds have a reptilian look to them. Could give them a look!

I like the look of them, but I'm worried that they just a little bit on the big side. But the skin texture, absence of hair, and the neck fins are all working for them.

You should check reaper for any weird one of minis, they have one of everything.

Edit: just noticed that the arm bits are another 50 cents, so get that too if you are ordering bits separately.

These are awesome models. Just a hint of skaven pack master included. Might get some for my collection.

So I got the chance to pick up these guys in a trade:

I think they fit the bill pretty well, at least until I can get my hands on those Reaper models. They are built like mastiffs, the armor fits the Dark Elf aesthetic to some extent, and I think with some minor green-stuff work, they could come pretty close to what I had in my head.

So, I had a friend challenge me to actually sculpt something for this, instead of using existing models. I'm not well versed in working with green-stuff or sculpting at the scale we work with on these minis, but I'm willing to give it a go.

I wanted to get some feedback on the idea of using the heads and neck areas from the Ripperdactyls, combined with the stubby tails from the Terradons, to make head/torso/tail for these reptilian hounds, and then sculpt some legs? Dumb idea? Awesome idea? Thoughts on legs I can steal so I have even less work to do? ;)

Awesome idea, legs could you use the Fenrisian wolfs as a base and sculpt them?
