Maybe give the grey howdah a heavy wash,
it's looking a bit like unpainted plastic as is.

Maybe try to go a bit further with the contrast on the howdah? Agree with n810 about it looking a bit unpainted from more than half a meter away.

Saying that I gotta say that the color schemes on both of the animals are incredible, looks so crisp!

If I but a wash over it not it will completely take away the smoothness of the airbrush. Im thinking that maybe just the picture. I undercoated it with a dark gray, then washed, the oversprayed with a light gray.

Event he gold looks flat on the engine of the gods. but again they were coated, shaded, then highlighted. i think my phone camera just sucks lol

Yep, you can apply the area to be washed with water, all of it, so when you apply the shade it spreads around evenly and you donĀ“t have the typical line dividing washed area and unwashed area. That will keep smoothness and add the effects of a shade.

Hey all, sorry I haven't posted in a while. I had a commission job to attend to so this went on pause. Im hoping to finish the engine and stegadon today. I will probably start doing a skink priest next and then after that I think I will have another commission. I am getting there slowly but surely!

The skinks look awesome! Are you painting the skink chiefs to be placed on bases?

Thanks, I kno its kinda hard to see, because its from my phone, when they are done I will take studio shots. The Alpha skinks ( i think thats what they are called) are all the way to the right on the picture. they will be going on the mount, I am not basing them separate. I still need to do some finishing touches on the feathers as well as some highlights on all the Skinks.

Wow those are gorgeous. That first one has such a unique colour scheme. Great work on both.

Its funny. Some people love the color of the first and some the second... its like a 50/50 split. I'm happy I picked these color schemes!
Thanks for your post! Please follow, I will be doing a whole Seraphon army! I've done these two, Lord Kroak, a unit of Kroxigors and Tet'ecko (cant remember his name haha) as well!

Both colour schemes look great. The first one is more unusual and unique. If someone told me they were painting a stegadon with the colours you used in the first one (prior to seeing your work) I would have been skeptical. But now upon seeing it, it clearly works beautifully. Your work is expert level and your eye for colour combinations is clearly far more advanced than mine.

They look great! I know how hard it is to find a scheme that looks good and you found two excellent ones!

Ha, this is exactly what I say to myself everytime I think I am done with something! I have come to the conclusion in this hobby that you just have to move on to the next project, so much more stuff to paint!

    Beautiful model!

Congrats snoop. Apart from your pseudo which is really cool, you do have an impressive eye for colour :p actually, about the 50/50 spli thing, i like both so eh, maybe it's not that bad :) and you do need variety when facing such a huge model. I'd be scared to go for even one, not sure I'd have the patience etc, but you took on that challenge with honours!!
do you have a studio blog btw? dont hesitate to post other stuff even if its not lizardmen.
