He only has one spell lol. I just got lucky with the rolls it deals d3 the first time then on a 4 up you deal an additional d3 damage and so on until you roll a 3 or less or the unit is gone!
I know a guy who plays them quite effectively. I will ask if he can give me an army list and tactics run down for them.
Order high elves/collegiate arcane 125 wounds dragonlord - 14 wounds 10x dragon blades - 20 wounds 10x dragon blades - 20 wounds 10x dragon blades - 20 wounds 1x celestial hurricanum with battle mage - 11 wounds 10x phoenix guard - 10 wounds 10x phoenix guard - 10 wounds 10x phoenix guard - 10 wounds 1x jade battle mage - 5 wounds 1x loremaster - 5 wounds This army is a very hard hitter. the draconic part of it makes a formation allowing you to once per game, in your hero phase, move all units in the formation within 8 inches of the dragonlord, to move as if it were the move phase, then on a four plus, charge like it were the charge phase. this does not stop them from moving later on in the turn. due to the bonuses from charging to cav units, the dragon blades will almost allways pull of the charge on the turn you want them to. then the loremaster has the ability to cast hand of glory, a spell that effects a single friendly model within 18 inches. that single model can re roll hit and wound rolls that fail until your next hero phase. casting that on dragon lord whos successfully charges, and the dragonlord will inflict an average of 14+ wounds on a model/unit with a four plus save. then the lord on that same turn will have used his command ability on the dragon blades nearby to allow them to re-roll failed to hit rolls. he also uses his aelven war horn to give all his dragon blades an extra attack with both the lance and the horse. one of these dragon blade squads will on average deal 23 wounds to a unit with a four plus save. the celestial hurricanums storm of shemtek can be translated into our engine of the gods mortal wounds capability, and with the portents of battle ability, adding one to the hit rolls of your dragon blades is only going to increase the deadlyness of the cavalry. also the comet of cassandora is a very good spell, so the celestial hurricanum has earned its place in this force. phoenix guard are the equivalent to the temple guard many of us know and love, with a base four up save, then a four up against all wounds, even mortals, these guys are going to be solid in defense. and as for the battle mage, he is just there to mystic shield our troops and heal the dragonlord/celestial hurricanum. hope the list adds up all right, took a while to make
Phoenix guards are huge. Luckily, they don't have any rend, but they're still a really impressive elite troop...
Is it worth making a new thread on other armies' tactics with regards to the general's handbook being released? The inclusion of points may change a lot of the examples given here.
Yeah, pretty much. Points and rules of one make unplayable some of these lists and tactics. I was indeed thinking about doing something similar. Someone would like to start it, or should i take the burden?
