Hi guys, I haven't got yet the possibility to see the General's Handbook with my very eyes so I am here to ask you a simple thing: (briefly) how do artifacts work in Matched Plays? Are they given only to Chaos/Order/Death/Destruction Alliances? Are you forced to give them to your general? Do Battalion Warscrolls grant you more magical items? There's a lot of confusion in my head at the moment, so I'll thank anybody who has the time to answer!
If your army has a Grand Alliance allegiance (Order, Death, Destruction, Chaos), you may choose any Hero within your army and give them a single artefact of your choice from your allegience table (Which i believe you can find in my post history). In addition, every battalion you take allows you to take a single extra artefact, although you may not give the same Hero more than one artefact. No word as of yet whether you can give different heroes the same artefact. You are not forced to give any artefacts to your general. If your army is a faction allegiance (Seraphon, Flesh-eater Courts etc) you do not get to pick command traits or artefacts. Interesting proviso to that last point however is that the new Sylvaneth book contains unique spells and artefacts for armies that are Sylvaneth allegiance, so watch this space for older armies. Hope that cleared it up a bit!
Yeah, absolutely!!! Thank you a lot, @InfamousBeany ! I look forward to anything related to Seraphon spells or artifacts... I believe somewhen in the future we will hear again about the Cube of Darkness or the Piranha Blade
You're allowed to choose both if you want or roll randomly. You'd probably better talk to your opponent before play begins.
@InfamousBeany the general handbook clearly states you can have a pure seraphon army and still to be a grand alliance. You will have to use skinks and saurus warriors as battleline units though. This way you can still get the artifacts which are great! Grtz Quazicotl
It was not my intention to ook like I know it all. It just looked like he meant it is not possible to get the artifacts and command traits if your army was seraphon only.
Don't worry. To expand the topic, It's a pity we don't have specific abilities if we pick the "seraphon allegiance " , just the guards and knights as battleline. There are downsides to be the first ones with the new battletome...
