AoS Question about Saurus Warriors

    So I noticed that Saurus warriors have a passive which gives them buffs based on how big their unit is. So +1 attack at 20 models, and an extra attack at 30 models.

    But when you think about it that means that if you start with 30 models, and you get hit once, you lose your extra attack buff. Which seems a bit counter productive since you want your warriors in the front line.

    Or does it mean that if your starting unit has 30 models, all models will gain the two buffs even if they are reduced in numbers?

    Which of those is it exactly? Would anyone happen to know?

    You lose the bonuses as they drop below the #'s needed. However they should manage to take out a few things before losing all of the bonuses.

    This! 40 warriors with a sunblood leading them into battle is very very deadly.

    But to get the Host for that, you'd need 2 more units of at least 10 warriors. It will be pretty expensive then ;p

    But you dont use the host, just 1 big unit of 40 saurus warriors. The host would require 3 units. Sunblood is your General and gives that big chunk of warriors an even bigger boost than they already had. Smash your warriors into something big and mean and it will be totally annihilated.

    Taking 40 means that they are hard to manuver and can easily be locked in combat. That will then be 400 points locked in a combat they dont want to be in for a few turns.

    It'd have to be something pretty big and beefy wouldn't it? That's one heck of a lot of attacks. If they are using 300-500 points to stop your 400 points that's not exactly a big negative. It would also mean that your hammer units aren't having to deal with whatever it is that can hold up 40 warriors for "a few turns."

    Getting all of your 40 warriors into perfect positio to wrap around a 100 point squad of chaos warriors/liberators/black orks is gonna be hard with only one pile in move, and they are locked down. Increase the blocker unit size to 10 or 15 and killing that will be almost imposible if you factor in the blockers attacks. That is a good points trade of to me. If you bring in support, then you are devoting more and more points to killing on unit. Just use saurus warriors in squads of 10 as cheap, cost eficient meatshields or to stay back and hold objevtives.

    I wouldn't use them to hold objectives, even with summoning you have cham skinks that can teleport in if you need it that bad. Guard are always better to hold the objectives, as long as it's not Khorne Daemons lol

    why not khorn demons? I'm asking because in two weeks I will face a khorne bloodborne enemy team with my seraphon Eternal starhost (15 guards), thunderquake starhost with two Bastilladon, and Slann mage priest.

    Bloodborne it doesn't matter but Bloodletters destroy our infantry if they're running a horde with a bloodsecrator due to all the mortal wounds khorne units can put out on a roll of 5 for the hit.

    Two bastiladons will make quick work of the horde so you probably don't have too much to worry about.
