Hi, I really like the razordons and was thinking about building a razordon army. they have the same shooting as a bastilladon, only a bit less range and damage. 60 points for a razordon / 300 points for a bastilladon so 1 bastilladon or 5 razordons? But still they do shout unit's into verry little pieces. this is the List Hero's A) 1 Astrolith Bearer B) 1 Astrolith Bearer Units C) 10 skinks D) 10 skinks E) 10 skinks F) 6 razordons G) 6 razordons H) 6 razordons I) 6 razordons Well, thats it. 2000/2000 ptn / 56 models / 114 wounds some of you would think this is verry strange, but here's the math: Unit F (6 razordons) they attack 2D6 that gives us an average of 7 attacks for each model. 6 x 7 = 42 attacks. Hitt on a 3+. so 66.6% Hits. Roll1: 42/100*66.6= 28 Hits / 14 Fails Hero A let's us reroll all failed Hit rolls. (plant the disk) Roll2: 14/100*66.6= 9 Hits / 5 Fails Hero B let's us reroll all failed Hit rolls (plant the disk) Roll3: 5/100*66.6= 3 Hits / 2 Fails This gives us a total of 40 Hits of 42 attacks. Woundrolls on a 4+ That gives us 20 Wounds of those 40 Hits. this is the same for Unit G, H and I. 20 Wounds x 4 units = 80 Wounds / Rend "-" / Damage 1 It's time for your opponent the trow some saverolls. Ooh and did i mention allready that is your opponent tries to charge a unit of razordons, On a 4+ dice i can shoot that unit before he can attack. but only now my razordons have a rend of "-1". So this give us for every charged unit and you roll a 4+ --> 20 Wounds / Rend "-1" / 1 Damage. And i did forget to mention the skinks as well. i we trow the same math on them they do 1 or 2 wounds a unit as well. so 3 to 6 extra wounds we shouldn't forget. So any ideas/remarks about the list? i don't say it's a tournament list, but your opponent is going to hate you at least. But still for objectives etc. it could still work. they move 8 inch. maybe the first 2 rounds stay as a pack and schoot everything into little pieces and then split up and take those objectives. i take 2 astrolith bearer so you can deploy into 2 different zone's. and don't have to be 1 pack. you will have 1 roll less, But hey for those 3 Hits! does it really matter, does it? regards, Gvanroey
Im pretty sure that you can only reroll misses once. Then it still has a good damage output but you could swap 1 astrolith bearer for a perhaps a star seer so that you can reroll the dice to see If you can shoot at a charging unit.
but as mentioned before the second astrolith bearer isn't really there for the second roll (if possible) but rather to split up the 4 units of razordons into 2 / 2 with both 1 astrolith bearer.
Interesting concept, but Razordons only having a range of 12" kind of neuters your options. Also having no rend for most of the time will hurt you. Frankly I think I would rather have large units of skinks if you want mass shooting, you're less reliant on random numbers of shots that way. I believe you can only have a max unit size of 4 Razordons as well, so you would lose out on 8 of them. @Ecozh is correct, you can only re-roll a dice once. Unfortunately your lack of diversity is what will kill you- no long range, no mobility options, no magic and no monster slayers will mean that most armies will have a way out. However, I cannot commend you enough for being creative with your build, I love me some spicy theorycrafting and I feel like this has some potential. Replacing a couple of units with Bastiladons (yes, I know some of you will roll your eyes when you read this lol ), and maybe swapping one astrolith bearer with a Skink Starseer could give you an interesting army. Keep on building lists, I'm excited to see what else you come up with!
I love playing lists like this, though I wouldn't rule out skink handlers to cover the role of the hit reroll. I know it's not a straight up reroll (reroll of 1 to hit) but you can make handlers super cost effective if you keep razors or sallies grouped. Your astrolith I fear would get left behind as you run toward objectives and they wouldnt have the effectiveness you may be planning on. You might be better dropping a razordon out of each group or eliminating one and filling out the list that would allow some wiggle room to some of the counters that were mentioned previously. For a serious game anyway. That being said, I'm totally playing a list like this in my next game. Sounds like fun.
Nice list. But using allot of the same units makes it a bit less interresting over time. I do think it is strong and i would like to battle it! Maybe one day...@ kolonisten?
This is a great thinking out of the box idea. The max size for a unit is 4 unfortunately, however this frees up 480 points. Now you could add say a starseer, a skink chief, and a stegadon for some added buffs and variety. Or you could add some handlers in there, and take some more skinks and a starpriest as well. Great idea, just needs a little more forming before implementation.
THX for all the remarks made. i see that i made some mistakes building the list. Therefore this is an updated version but for a 1500 ptn list Hero Slann Starmaster -Tenacious -Phoenix Stone (5-6 The Great Drake) Units 4 Razordons 4 Razordons 4 Razordons 4 Razordons 10 Skinks 10 Skinks 10 Skinks 1460/1500 ptn - 85 wnd - 47 mdl Math: 16 Razordons shooting = (AVG 2D6 = 7) * 4 mdl * 4 Units = 112 attacks of 12 inch (they also move 8 inch) 112 / 100 * 66.6 = 74,67 Hits / 37.33 Fails reroll of 1's (The Great Drake) = 18.66 / 100 * 66.6 = 12.44 Hits total of (74.67 + 12.44) 87 Hits out of 112 attacks To wound on a 4+ gives us (87 / 2) 43 or 44 Wounds.
I know, but i didn't want to push it to the limits. Maybe we could try it out in de kolonisten one of these days. Eager to shoot Some ironjawz.
In a 2000 point game you're allowed 4 units of artillery. Unit soze of razordons can be up to 4 still has only 4 units of artillery.
Indeed. Would definitely be legal! But the level of fun should be illegal! Wallet and bank account would definitely hate buying 16 razordon models though
The amount they charge for razordons should be illegal! £296 for 16 models, I think I've spent that amount for my entire army. They're not even attractive models.
