AoS Useful Units and Heroes from Other Order Armies

    I have been thinking about useful combos using elements from other armies, and I am wondering what useful things people have found.

    I haven't battle tested anything yet, but here's my short list of other Order units and Heroes that might be useful.

    Sisters of the Thorn: Cast their spell on a unit of Temple Guard with Mystic Shield and Sworn Guardians in effect, and they have a 2+ rerollable save, that returns mortal wounds to melee attackers on save rolls of a 4+. The reroll might be redundant with Skink priests, but it never hurts to have some redundancy. Also useful on a Bastiladon.

    Loremaster: Rerolling Hits and Wounds on a Bastiladon's Light of the Heavens, for when you need something to just stop existing.

    Battlemage: Jade (Lifespring) Battlemage to keep your Eternity Warden Alive, to keep you Slann alive. Especially useful I imagine if you have Lord Kroak. Althought it might be more effective to just keep summoning points open to summon a second Eternity Warden when the first dies.

    And of course obviously the Celestial Herricanum and Luminark of Hysh buffs all order units around, but they are kinda big, points-wise.

    What else have you found that works? Am I wrong about the usefulness of one of the things above?

    Archmage- Gives bubble protection on saves, rolling a 6 witin 18" of the archmage protects against wounds and mortal wounds.

    Volkmar the Grim - The Empire/Humans - 100p
    Has a prayer the doesn't have any keywords tied to it. Cast on a unit within 10", succeeds on 3+, three options to choose from:

    A. 6 up ward save for wounds/mwounds. (same as archmage but single unit)
    B. Reroll failed hit-rolls for that unit until next hero phase.
    C: Add 1 to run, charge and hit rolls until next hero phase.

    The Dark Aelf assassin can be hidden in any friendly unit, pretty good to add some firepower to rippers in a shadowstrike

    Says a "DEVOTED OF SIGMAR" which I guess you can't cast on us ? And does he exist solo in AoS ? Couldn't find him

    That's odd, maybe the warscroll in the app is old. If you check the warpriest it has that keyword, but not for him as a named character.

    Edit: If you follow his "purchase link" in the app it redirects you to the "War Altar of Sigmar" unit.

    Use the Skink rider from the Carnosaur kit to make a Seraphon version :)

    Gryph Hounds. Tons of fun alongside your bastiladon and/or salamanders.

    Tenebrael shard can be a good assassin.

    Knight-venator can be a good sniper

    Amber battlemages are also pretty rad - especially with a unit of 40 warriors or a bunch of skinks.

    I don't play the game yet but the High Bolt thrower seems legit for 120 pts you get high rate of fire at long range with some duality in the damage profile.[​IMG]

    It actually seems like Elves of all kinds work really well with Seraphon, especially with Reavers being fast cav and battleline.

    Why do you think they work well together? Becaus sisters of th me thorn work well with guards but i don't see dark evles or highelf swordmasters have allot of synergie with our lizards.

    Not just in synergy, but in filling in spots we have issue with, such as cheap, somewhat reliable ranged. More flexible units (where ours have very focused directions) and a more diverse pool of wizards/buff sticks.

    Ex: Frostheart Pheonix, near a unit of Guard, in front of a Skink Starpriest (mystic shield on guard), with the Sister's buff.

    Guard are 2+, with the Sister buff, and the enemy is -1 to wound them.

    The repeater is great. Hellstorm rocket battery is great too for artillery. Aelves fill roles that we can't and move fast. Reavers, sister of the thorn, loremaster, archmage, and phoenix guard are all great for ass order armies. Bloodwrack shrine, war hydra, bloodwrack medusae and assassins could fit intoany army as well. Kurnoth hunters while not aelves are fantastic.

    Anyone know if anything Order related has a wolf unit of some kind? I found a really cool wolf model I want to make use of, it'd be good conversion fodder.
