Hi All, My local store is doing an escalation league where you start with 3 boxes of your choice and every two weeks everyone will vote on what unit type gets added, always following box size for units. The first three boxes should be one battleline, one hero (not including behemoth leaders). and a third box that can be anything except leader+behemoth or artillery. Also to note: Summoning rules follow the rule of 1 if your opponent doesn't have an army that can summon. If they do then pre-general's handbook rules for summoning. This is exciting for seraphon and why I chose the Slaan. As its hard to predict where the list is going later and points are not considered but just boxes, I'm thinking the most points you can get per box would be ideal. To that end I'm thinking about starting with: 1 Slann 15 Saurus Guard 1 Bastildon Would you recommend making any changes to this starting point (I have all seraphon models except razordons/salamanders)? This definitely feels like a strong defensive base to summon other things from. Any thoughts on first things to summon and what I should be voting for to add?
1 box Hero, Slann 1 box BL, Guards 1 box not leader, behemoth or artillery So you can't have a basilidon as that is a behemoth? My 3 would be Eternity warden Guards Chameleon skinks More points does not always mean better especially with Seraphon
I think Behemoth is ok for third box, it just can't be a Leader and a Behemoth. Bastiladon, Stegadon are ok, Carnasaur/EotG are not alright because they have a hero with them. I figured summoning would be important for this league which is why I went with the slann. I'm not sure if a bastiladon or stegadon would be better. I was going to summon an eternity warden and chameleon skinks. Curious if you think having the eternity warden is better vs slann? Edit: I guess in the case where the rule of 1 applies the eternity warden might be better?
Slann would be good to get your guard back, but I think that either eternity warden, scar-vet on cold one or sunblood to buff the guard. And then either chameleons or bastiladon woukd be good if you can have a non leader behemoth.
Hmmm... If I had to pick three boxes it would be: - Thunderbeast Host - Start Collecting Seraphon - Skinks
Sounds like I should do Eternity Warden 15 Guard Bastiladon I can vote for a hero for the slann, I'm sure we'll get another one soon enough. This just doesn't give me any casting is what I worry about. Should I not be concerned?
I wouldn't worry, I think at this level, you won’t have too many powerful spellcasters. Most will require some form of support unit. So @Crowsfoot suggestion for chameleons might be good if you're worried. Assassinate the wizards first thing!
I think I'll stick with the bastiladon because I still haven't used him since I built it and he can snipe wizards a bit too. Should I be waiting for them to come to me or running up to meet them? I imagine it's best to keep everyone in a group.
So I played a game today vs khorne. 1 Slaughterpriest 3 Skullcrushers 10 Bloodwarrriors Bastiladon weakened the skullcrushers and then the temple guard ate them up. But the slaughterpriests blood boiling prayer really did a lot of work and the bloodwarriors 2 wounds were more difficult to chew through. It looked like the game was over in Seraphon's favor once the skullcrushers were taken out, but the temple guard lost their numbers very quickly with their 1 wound once the slaughterpriest and bloodwarriors closed in. The bastiladon was the last one left against 3 warriors and a slaughterpriest that hadn't been harmed. Escalation vote ended up being battleline. I'm leaning toward adding 24 skinks, but curious whether there's a reason why 20 saurus warriors or 8 saurus knights (my two other options) would be a better choice?
I aay go for the skinks. The shooting the chaff, just really good units. Warriors would be my second pick. Yeah that slaughter priest is nasty. He needs to get taken out as soon as possible.
Tough one.... My skinks have been bloody useless so far, don't think they've managed to wipe out a single unit, though I have been playing some tough stuff. Knights not worth getting in that quantity without some Scar Vet to boost them up... Go with the skinks, shooting will probably win out for you over the other options.
Alright played one game vs some fyreslayers, this format really does not work well for them. Bastiladon and skinks did most of the work, ended up losing cause I was silly about objectives, but we played it out and I swept him army wise. Vote this week was for a "big box". Meaning I can add one box of anything seraphon I want. Thoughts? I'm leaning toward engine of the gods for fun, or rippers cause I have yet to play mine. I feel like a carnasaur would be a good choice, but I've never had luck with mine.
I was wanting to play rippers finally for the first time, glad everyone is always in consensus. Note: due to the format of this we won't ever get to take battalions, but I still wouldn't mind choosing boxes in that direction to learn the units for when i do get to take the battalion.
