Well a Horde of Ancients on Rhinosaurs is 150x100 so three Stegadon/Bastiladon bases should be just right, problem is of course it is impossible to rank three of those things together, so yeah two in a movement tray with an empty base in between should de the job. You can even add a couple of miniatures to that base, like lizards, skinks or cold ones.
I've bitten the bullet and finally bought enough beautiful Gamezone Predators for a horde of Ancients on Rhinosaurs and a Battle-Captain on Rhinosaur. They are quite a bit larger than GW cold ones, so will justify being 'large cavalry' without being so huge as to be confused with height 4 monsters (which is what put me off using carnosaurs / stegadons etc.). I also found some old Saurus Cold One Cavalry riders on eBay (the metal ones lying down) so I have 6 coming through the post. I'm hoping that the two go together with out the need for too much modification because those riders just sit on top rather than having legs either side of their mounts. I will have to see how I can mash them together when it all arrives! p.s. it was stupidly expensive
Well done! I'm guessing not as expensive as buying 30+ Grial Pilgrims plus Reliqae just after they got taken out from the GW page.... my god I'm stupid sometimes.
Will do! Although i will only be able to if the site allows me to upload pictures (see my post in the problems posts) The paint jobs might be rather 'alternative' (read: crap) as I'll be using my airbrush more extensively for the first time on them though...
Indeed. Every piece of every model that Gamezone make can be purchased separately. When on a model page, scroll down and just above the rotating image click 'Accessories'. This shows every piece that the model is made up of, along with their individual item price.
Right, they fit together a little worse than i was hoping so i am going to have to modify quite a bit. And tips for working with metal?
Super glue pin vise and Paperclip pieces are your friend. Gap Hill with green stuff or stew really adventurous liquid green stuff
I'm more concerned about the cutting / shaping of it. I need to chop the bits at the back of the saddle off for them to fit, but the saddle on which the Ancients sit does not fully cover the section exposed from the removal. My current guess is to apply green stuff and model it as best I can to the skin scales?
